If this happens, turn off the ignition, cool the engine and look for the cause. The coolant level may be too low due to a leak. Often the cause is a faulty thermostat. An important factor that is overlooked is the contamination of the radiator core with dirt and insects. They block the path of the flowing air flow, and then the cooler reaches only a part of its efficiency. If our search was unsuccessful, we go to the workshop to fix the problem, as overheating of the engine can lead to serious damage.

Some vehicles do not have a coolant temperature gauge. A fault is signaled by a red indicator. When it lights up, it's too late - the engine has overheated.
