Many motorists cannot imagine a weekend trip without their pet. Until the transport of small rodents 
more troublesome, transporting larger animals such as dogs or cats is not as easy.
Bad wagon, heavy fine
In the rules of the road, we will not find information directly related to how animals should be transported. This does not mean, however, that our beloved shepherd can freely jump on the car while driving. – Article 60, para. 1 of the Road Traffic Code prohibits drivers from using vehicles in a way that endangers the safety of a person inside or outside the vehicle, explains Katarzyna Florkowska from Korkowo.pl. “Thus, we can conclude that the basis for imposing a fine of up to PLN 200 may be an animal that is not properly transported,” adds Florkowska. So how can you protect yourself from such an unpleasant expense?

Fortunately, several methods have already been devised that will allow you to freely and safely transport a pet, although they usually involve certain costs. In the case of a cat, it is worth investing in a special carrier that can be placed, for example, on the floor of a car. Transporting dogs is a little more difficult because you have to consider the size of your pet. One way is to transport the dog in the back seat on a special wide mat in the form of a hammock, which, on the one hand, protects it from falling, and on the other hand, prevents it from walking around the car. Some people carry their dogs in the trunk. It is worth remembering that you can keep them there only when the animals have access to air there, for example, thanks to the grate separating the trunk from the passenger compartment. Another solution is a special harness that "attaches" the dog to the seat in the same way as the belts used by people.
How much does it cost?
So how much can it cost us to transport an animal? The cheapest cat carriers cost around PLN 50. A seat belt for dogs costs between PLN 25 and PLN 250. It all depends on their size, performance and reputation of the manufacturer. If we want to transport the dog in the trunk, we can buy special protective bars. Their price fluctuates around 100 zlotys. In addition, the offer also includes boot mats that prevent the dog from slipping; their price is about 120 zł. A dog hammock mat can be found for about 70 PLN. What should be considered when making a purchase decision? Of course, the state of the wallet and the number of trips that we go on with our pet. It is also worth considering what type of transport your pet will like best. After all, the May trip should bring pleasure to everyone.
