The first electric fire truck has already appeared in Los Angeles

Engine electrification has already made its way to ambulances, and a prime example is the world's first electric fire truck called the RTX, which is already circulating in Los Angeles and costs $1.2 million.

This applies not only to private cars, but also to ambulances, and proof of this is the world's first electric fire engine, which has already become a reality in the city of Los Angeles, California.

And the fact is that the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD, its acronym in English) recently received the first of its kind electric truck, where technology plays a very important role in this type of ambulance.

The first electric fire engine in the world

This electric truck was made by an Austrian company and is called RTX.

According to the manufacturer, the RTX is the world's first fire engine of its type, not only because it is electric, but also because of its design and integrated technologies, which makes it the most advanced.

It has an electric drive system with two electric motors, one for each axle, powered by a 32 kWh Volvo battery.

Thus, he manages to reach 490 hp. maximum power and 350 hp. continuously.

Features and versatility

Thanks to these characteristics, full traction and excellent maneuverability of a heavy vehicle are achieved.

The Austrian firm has shared a video of Todd McBride, sales and marketing manager for RTX, showing the interior of the ambulance.

Where large interior spaces are set aside for both firefighters and elements needed for emergency response.

Its price is 1.2 million dollars.

The RTX is priced at $1.2 million and can travel on almost any surface as it has a ground clearance of up to 48 centimeters. Seven people can board.

The first fire truck in Los Angeles holds more than 2,800 liters of water, has two 300-meter hoses with a neck width of 12 centimeters and another 6 centimeters.

Space is used more efficiently, as seen in a video released by the Los Angeles Fire Department showing the design and functionality of the Rosenbauer RTX.

Los Angeles innovates in ambulances

Although the truck is electrified, autonomy is important for this type of emergency vehicle, the Rosenbauer RTX has a range extender in the form of a 3 liter six-cylinder BMW diesel engine that is capable of generating 300 hp. strength.

It was in February 2020 when he ordered an electrified truck that was supposed to be delivered in 2021, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Rosenbauer RTX was delivered a few days ago and is already in circulation in Los Angeles, in particular. at Station 82 in Hollywood.
