Peugeot 2008 1.2 THP 130 Stop & Start Allure

Three years ago, Peugeot ditched the van version of the Peugeot 208, which its two predecessors took for granted, and offered a crossover instead. The decision was obviously the right one, as Peugeot 2008 convinced a good half a million drivers in three years and performed well in the automotive industry. It is available this year in a revamped and, above all, bolder design.

There are not many external changes, so they are all the more obvious. LED lights with 2008D graphics provide better visibility and appeal to the rear, while the front is where refreshing is most noticeable, and the vertical grille on the left side of the Peugeot, respectively the raised bonnet and bumper ensure that the XNUMX Peugeot has a more bold exterior. view as well as some orientation to the field. The test car's bright red color certainly contributes to its attractive appearance.

Field orientation on this also more or less ends. Peugeot offers a Grip Control system in this car that helps the driver navigate more difficult terrain with electronic brake control on the front wheels, but the 2008 test Peugeot was not equipped with it. Its true nature, despite its off-road appearance, lies in its ability to adapt to the urban environment that suits it - also due to Euroncap's expectations - of the increasingly mandatory Active City Brake collision avoidance system, which in this case, unfortunately, is only available for a surcharge, as well as - also at an surcharge - an automatic parking system that effectively facilitates side parking for unprotected drivers. The interior is more or less the same as before, which is not bad.

The slightly greater floor-to-ground clearance allows for comfortable seating on relatively tall seats, and the higher seating position also provides excellent forward visibility, which is hampered by rather bulky pillars in the opposite direction. Therefore, the rear view camera with display on the center screen really helps the driver when reversing. The touchscreen also remains a central part of gadget control. Of course, the designers did not touch on the layout of the i-Cockpit with a straight small, but nevertheless lightweight steering wheel and sensors located on it, which still causes different reactions from users.

Someone gets used to such an arrangement right away, someone a little later, and finally everyone manages to find the right place behind the wheel. Drivers should certainly be impressed with the 1.2 THP PureTech engine, which with 130 horsepower and 230 Nm of torque performs well in urban areas and on long-distance routes, as well as when the driver is crossing mountain serpentines or lazy on the highway. ... When paired with a precise six-speed gearbox, it's responsive, bouncy and quiet, albeit with a rather harsh three-cylinder tint. It sovereignly accelerates everything from the lowest rpm and can be economical enough so that it doesn't need to visit the pumps too often. At least judging by the normal fuel consumption. Thus, the Peugeot 2008 remains a small crossover even after the update, which should be considered by those who are close to the advantages of a car in this class when shopping.

evaluation

  • After the 2008 Peugeot facelift, it is even more confident than before, but despite its off-road look, it prefers an urban environment more. Particularly impressive is its sharp and relatively economical engine.
