Peugeot 607 2.7 V6 HDi Titanium
So the engine you get from a Peugeot 607 can also be purchased from Jaguar, Ford, or Land Rover. But that doesn't diminish the enthusiasm for the turbo diesel engine, which draws a whopping 81 kW (88 hp) or, even more impressively, a whopping 60 Nm at 150 from six cylinders measuring 204 x 440 millimeters and the same number of cylinders. pistons (at V with a distance of 1900 degrees). revolutions.
All this with barely audible noise (60 dB noise at 90 km / h in 5th gear or 63 dB noise at 130 km / h in 6th gear is only 1-2 dB more than the petrol 2.9 V6), modest consumption 9 liters of diesel fuel per 2 kilometers and - which is not too little in today's accelerated traffic - 100 seconds from 9 to 3 km / h, and a top speed of 0 km / h - it's just not enough. Wow, that's great, especially on the German "freeways".
The engine is so sovereign that it works perfectly even with a Peugeot 6-speed automatic transmission, and - which is becoming a real rarity - we have never missed the technically advanced DSG that has become the benchmark for all other transmissions. With the new technology, we forgot a little about other changes in the French sedan, such as the finished grille, redesigned headlights and bumper, not to mention the interior (new LCD color screen, new cosmetic accessories). Yes, the Peugeot 607 is entering its mature years (it was introduced in the last century, more precisely back in 1999), but no one seems to be in a hurry to retire. .
While we felt great, mainly thanks to the rich equipment of the Titan, the driving position is still a worry, which is becoming more and more unsettling due to the "French" ergonomics (we are expected to have short legs, long arms and modest stature). But the comfort that French limousine drivers prefer is still top notch!
