Peugeot Partner Tepee 1.6 HDi (80 ) FAP Outdoor

By avoiding cymbals and listening to his wife's hail of curses, he is unlikely to force her to buy a new Peugeot family car. And if the wife does not have an Olympic metal spear or bullet, then before being hit, she may even hear an explanation and hug him in surprise that all his ribs will hurt. And peace will return to the house again. ...

The partner is, of course, the twin brother of the Citroën Berlingo, so they are technically identical. They choose brand affiliation, proximity to service, or the little things that tend to tip the scales of an important family purchase. Of course, we can be sure that the designers and designers of the new twins are under intense pressure. Previous models sold well, even more, they still top the list of best selling limousine vans!

The reason for this is largely due to the bargain price, so a beginner may even find a buyer. However, the world is moving forward, and with it the cars. With limousine vans, strategists are limited: if they want the rear of the car to remain usable, it must remain nearly rectangular so that they only have free hands at the front.

Thus, the new Partner changes dramatically at once. The nose of the car is longer, sharper. The Outdoor version we tested was the best equipped, and you can recognize it by the extra nice plastic parts, large 16-inch alloy wheels and raised chassis.

The purpose of this is clear: the extra plastic should be eye-catching, even a little protection against mechanical damage and dirt, and a taller chassis with larger wheels would give more freedom of movement on the road for trolleys. In short, the Tepee Outdoor partner is designed for small families or couples who cannot imagine life without outdoor sports.

But trust me, the Outdoor isn't off-road and doesn't want to either. The chassis is comfortable, but it is more designed for asphalt jungle than wandering on bumpy roads, and the tires prefer to use urban areas rather than grappling with mud.

Front-wheel drive with no differential locks confirms the Outdoor is designed for groomed tracks, not off-road. So don't worry about the off-roading of this car, because the taller chassis is primarily designed to make it easier to enter the cabin. However, internally, the difference between the old and the new Partner is enormous.

As for the Spanish French - it's made in Vigo, Spain - it's safe to say that it has a very pleasant interior, which is not at all kitsch and - God forbid - plucked. Enough gear to easily get through those few weekend hours you spent on the road.

Air conditioning and an athermal windshield protect you from the heat, a height-adjustable driver's seat and a height-adjustable and longitudinally adjustable steering wheel provide a comfortable driving position, double sliding side doors and a separate window opening in the trunk allow unhindered access to the rear. The only thing we lacked was the longitudinal movement of the rear bench, which gives flexibility to a whole new dimension.

This leaves a large trunk that can be hidden in size from the Kangoo, but its basic 505 (rectangular) liters for roller shutters is more than enough. Of course, the luggage kingdom can be increased by a third of the divisible rear bench, and when the rear seats are folded down, we get a completely flat bottom by as much as 3.000 liters! Also very useful for (family) business.

Well, if you are a more disparate type of person, we must tell you that Partner Tepee Outdoor offers up to 76 liters of storage space in the form of closed or open boxes (in front of the passenger, under the seats, indoors). floor, under the ceiling ...) and various grooves. So take your time and do not postpone things headlong, otherwise you will spend a lot of time to get to them again.

The Outdoor version also comes standard with additional brackets under the roof for transporting thin and long items. But the more we thought about it, the more we thought it was a bad decision. On the brackets, you can only push the skis or surf, for example, the stroller can no longer be folded.

So if you're a snow and sea fanatic, this is one option for transporting your gear, but I'd prefer a luggage box that can be easily mounted on external roof racks (standard Outdoor equipment). When transporting under a roof, you will have to wipe all sports equipment well, otherwise it will drip on your head, and fasten them well. Well, the good thing about this car gadget is that it is not annoying.

The Tepee Outdoor does not want to be a prestigious but rugged car that also tolerates childish bullying. This is great for this, as the slightly less upmarket materials inside can be easily wiped off when children with dirty shoes or hands props up the dashboard, door liner or front seat backrest.

The engine is a longtime acquaintance from Peugeot counters. The 1-litre, four-cylinder, high-pressure direct-injection, 6-valve engine offers a whopping 16 kilowatts (80 "horsepower"), more than enough for a busy Tepee Outdoor Partner.

We also tested the weaker 66-kilowatt (90 "horsepower") HDi and found the difference to be clear. When accelerating, the stronger sibling is more agile, which comes in handy under full load and above all gives a little more wiggle room when cornering and lounging around with the gear lever. In the weaker version, second gear was almost "too short" and third "too long" for certain corners, while in the stronger version you could only hit the throttle in third gear and the engine turned sovereign towards new adventures. Although Partner Tepee is equipped with only a five-speed gearbox, which is significantly better than its predecessor, we did not miss the sixth gear.

The gear ratios are well calculated and the 3.000 rpm highway ride does not get in the way, which can also be attributed to good sound insulation. Be that as it may, a trip both through the city and by the sea will be pleasant, even very quiet, if you may have missed the silence of the house. The ride will also be enjoyable with an average consumption of just 7 liters per 3 kilometers, which can be reduced to an enviable 100 liters when traveling long distances!

Before buying a car, we advise you to think about the so-called “safety package”. The Outdoor equipment comes standard with ABS and two airbags, while ESP, side airbags and curtain airbags will cost an additional 670 euros. While this is a relatively high cost and you might think that due to its calm nature this accessory is not necessary for you, we highly recommend it. At the same time, Peugeot must say that even the Partner with the largest range does not have ESP as standard.

Peace in the house is worth its weight in gold, which is especially confirmed by men. So - if you survived the attack of the first suitor, of course - we wish you many miles and, above all, a lot of outdoor activities. Just look at the man in the photo who enjoys fishing! Or he enjoys the peace and quiet that is not at home (again). .

Overall rating (307/420)

  • Do not expect a revolution, but only an update of a previously very useful Partner. The newcomer has made the most progress in the drivetrain, with a few steps ahead of the driving experience (position) and on the steering wheel (chassis, steering system). In fact, we only lacked a longitudinally movable back bench.

  • Exterior (13/15)

With the added plastic details, it is special on the road, a little too vulgar for some.

  • Interior (106/140)

A good driving position, a correspondingly large and flexible trunk, loses several points due to the equipment.

  • Engine, transmission (31

    / 40)

Compared to its predecessor, the gearbox has improved significantly both in accuracy and in travel speed. We did not miss the sixth gear (surprisingly).

  • Driving performance (67

    / 95)

A comfortable chassis that pampers young and old alike, few remarks were made towards stability.

  • Performance (22/35)

Speed records cannot be set in Germany, but the maneuverability of a fully loaded car will suit you completely.

  • Security (35/45)

Sufficient braking distance, good stock with (optional) safety equipment.

  • Economy

New competitive retail price, good warranty and very favorable fuel consumption.

We praise and reproach

engine suitability

fuel consumption

trunk window can be opened separately

transmission is better than its predecessor, although only five-speed

many storage rooms

extra ESP even for the richest equipment

opening the fuel tank with a key only

it does not have a movable back bench

conditionally suitable interior roof racks
