Pickup trucks in the US that still have a manual transmission

Pickup trucks have proven to be very useful in the countryside and in the city, however some drivers prefer to drive them with a manual transmission due to their versatility. The bad news is that there are currently only two pickup trucks with this type of transmission; Toyota Tacoma and Jeep Gladiator

If you drive a car that was released in the last few years, it is unlikely that it will have. In the past, trucks offered manual options for those who liked to drive their truck. While most of them are gone, some 2022 pickups still have manual transmissions.

What trucks are still in manual control?

There are not many cars with manual transmission left on the market. There are even fewer trucks that don't shift gears automatically.

Toyota Tacoma 2022

First of all, it still has an optional manual transmission. Choosing it, you get a more powerful 6-horsepower 3.5-liter V278, which is a positive thing. If you want a six-speed manual Tacoma, you'll need a TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, or TRD Pro with all-wheel drive.

Jeep Gladiator 2022

Another 2022 pickup with a manual transmission is the Jeep Gladiator. Under the hood, you'll find a 6 horsepower 3.6-liter V285 engine that uses a six-speed manual transmission. This transmission is standard on most Jeep Gladiator trims, but an eight-speed automatic comes with the diesel option.

What is the difference between a manual transmission and an automatic transmission?

If you're buying a truck or something and constantly looking at what kind of transmission it has, you might be wondering what it all means. First of all, a manual transmission or shift lever is a transmission in which the driver must choose between gear ratios. People who love manual transmissions tend to be gear freaks and enjoy driving with a manual transmission.

On the other hand, the most popular option is the automatic transmission. If you've driven a car in the US, chances are it's an automatic. This is the same as manual control, but the vehicle selects the gear ratio for the driver. This is much better for people who live in densely populated areas with high traffic. It is much more difficult to constantly stop and start with a manual transmission than just driving with an automatic.

Why are there no manual transmission trucks?

As with many things, the main reason most trucks are automatic is because of demand. So few people still want a truck with a manual transmission that automakers don't make. You don't have to earn a lot of money to sit on the lots of dealers and sell a few pieces a year. Instead, an automatic transmission everywhere allows anyone and everyone to drive a truck. Manufacturing and maintaining manual trucks costs manufacturers too much money to be worth it.

Do SUVs have a manual transmission?

If you're moving from trucks to SUVs, you'll still have a hard time finding the new manual transmission option. Only a few SUVs come with a manual transmission, the first being the Ford Bronco. Good luck finding one to buy, but the Ford Bronco comes standard with a shifter in four trims. Also, its closest competitor, the Jeep Wrangler, is available with a six-speed manual transmission mated to a 6-horsepower V285 engine.

There really aren't many options, as manual enthusiasts tend to lean towards cars. Whether you want a sedan or coupe with a manual transmission, there are plenty of 2022 models available.
