Pros and cons of buying winter tires in hypermarket chains

Winter is getting closer, and with it, the issue of purchasing winter tires is becoming more important for drivers. Some make purchases in specialized tire centers, preferring to do it in advance. Others take what supermarket chains offer at the last moment - this way you can save a lot. However, as always, not everything is so smooth. The AvtoVzglyad portal found out all the pros and cons of such shopping.

Car owners who did not bother buying winter tires in time in the summer and left the solution of the problem for the fall often face an increased price tag and the lack of the right size for a certain brand. And here chain supermarkets come to the rescue, where you can buy everything from food to the same tires. Moreover, the tires offered in well-known "networks" do not look bad, and are affordable. However, buying winter tires in supermarkets has its pros and cons.

Let's start with the fact that the tires offered here are a seasonal product. In other words, stores do not buy them, and even more so they do not store them in warehouses, because the specialization is somewhat different. And this is the first plus: the tires sold here are always from new production batches. Knowledgeable drivers always pay attention to the date when the rubber was released. And if tires from old stocks were sold in supermarkets, then the store would not be able to quickly sell products even despite the huge traffic.

The second advantage of this method of purchasing tires is that they are all from well-known brands and are sometimes sold at prices lower than those that can be seen in specialized tire centers. The only “but”: as a rule, these are not the most advanced products of domestic production and from budget lines - the most for those who are not chasing technology and do not have unlimited budgets.

However, there are also disadvantages of purchasing tires in chain stores. The choice is usually limited. The sizing line is the same. If in specialized tire centers a whole staff of sales assistants will work for you, then in a food and clothing hypermarket a person laying out bananas is unlikely to tell you about the advantages of one brand's products over another. And before you get yourself a set of tires, you have to go to the store a couple of times.

The first is to see the range and names. The second - after studying the reviews and prices. And of course, you will have to drag heavy rubber yourself too. Moreover, if in tire centers you can immediately change the shoes of the car, then it is not customary to keep tire shops at hypermarkets.

And here again we are faced with a problem - studded tires, if the dimensions of the trunk do not allow transporting the entire set at once, have to be placed in the cabin. And these are additional risks - you can damage the plastic or tear the upholstery of the seats.

In general, buying winter tires in chain supermarkets has its own charms and certain difficulties. But remember that such rubber cannot be compared with good expensive wheels either in terms of performance or wear resistance.
