The current regulation of the procedure for buying and selling a car involves the transfer of the vehicle to a new owner along with the old license plates, not otherwise. But what about those who want to keep their "beautiful" license plates? In this matter, having studied all the subtleties, the AvtoVzglyad portal figured it out.

You never know for what reason the driver wants to keep the license plate for himself. Perhaps he came across at one time a “beautiful”, easily remembered or significant alphanumeric combination. Let's say right away that the car owner will succeed in retaining the registration plates when selling the car, without violating any laws. True, there are nuances.

Firstly, it is forbidden to keep signs dear to your heart at home, or where you are going to “hide” them. "Tins" should be in advance - even before signing the contract of sale with the buyer of the car - to be deposited with the traffic police department.

As soon as the car is at your disposal, you will need to pay a visit to the traffic police unit again - the one to which you gave the “beautiful” signs. And you will not have time to solve your transport issue in a year, they will “leave” to another car owner in the order of the usual queue.

The procedure for "rescuing" native license plates is practically the same as traditional registration. True, in addition, you will have to write a statement again, but this time with a request to issue "tins" from storage. Naturally, you will be obliged to pay all duties: for a new STS, a mark in the TCP and - attention - a license plate. Yes, despite the fact that they seem to be yours, the money is still charged.

As we can see, the preservation of registration plates that are pleasant to the eye results in a decent amount - 5700 rubles. And if your old "tins" do not meet the requirements, you will also have to pay for the production of duplicates. But there is a life hack: when a citizen submits an application electronically through the "Gosuslugi" and pays fees by bank transfer, he is provided with a 30% discount. True, this action of unprecedented generosity will last only until the end of 2018.
