Why is it better not to buy “anti-freeze” either in stores or on the highway

The antifreeze liquid sold in stores does not always effectively help clean the windshield in cold weather. In an hour, poured into a tank from a jar, on the label of which “-25 degrees” proudly flaunts, the liquid freezes already at minus 10. The AvtoVzglyad portal tells how to prepare a winter “washer” with your own hands. And what should be feared.

Dirty glass, as well as futile attempts to clean it, can lead to an accident. It's a shame to realize that it happened due to a poor-quality "washer". You can, of course, go the easy way and buy “chemistry” on the highway, which includes methyl alcohol. Such a "slurry" will definitely not freeze in the cold, but keep in mind that methanol is a strong poison. If you take only 10 grams inside, a person will go blind, and 30 grams. - lethal dose. So we will go the other way - we will do the “washer” ourselves.

From vodka

"Fire water" is in every home. It will become the basis for the "non-freezing". We take half a liter of vodka, the same amount of plain water and 2 teaspoons of dishwashing detergent. We mix everything and get a washer fluid with a pleasant smell.

With added vinegar

We take a liter of table vinegar, the same amount of distilled water and 200 g of dishwashing gel. It remains to mix it all up and pour it into the washer reservoir. Both compositions will not freeze in frost down to -15 degrees. For the middle zone of Russia it is quite enough. But there is a nuance here. Vinegar will smell strongly, and its lingering smell can stay in the car for up to a week.

With the addition of ethyl alcohol

The stronger the water-alcohol solution, the better it resists the cold, and therefore it is a good idea to use ethyl alcohol. Its base strength is 96%. To prepare a “non-freeze” that does not freeze at -15 degrees, you need to mix 0,5 liters of alcohol and a liter of water. Add essential oil for fragrance.
