Why is it dangerous to use coat hooks in a car?

Hooks for clothes in the car interior are a useful device, but for someone it is completely necessary. What kind of wardrobe items do not “cling” to them drivers and passengers: and windbreakers, and sweatshirts, and sheepskin coats, and jackets neatly hung on a coat hanger. For the convenience of drivers and passengers, automakers have come up with special hooks on which, if necessary, you can hang outerwear. These devices are located both on the central pillar of the car - that is, between the rear and front windows - and near the handle located under the ceiling on the second row of seats. In modern cars, the latter option is more common.

You don't need to be an expert to understand that clothing that partially covers the driver's view in corners reduces the level of safety. That is why manufacturers strongly recommend that car owners hang only “light”, non-voluminous wardrobe items on the hook: cardigans, windbreakers, thin capes. These include jackets, however, only if they do not "sit" on the shoulders.

Wanting to keep the presentable appearance of their expensive jacket, many drivers manage to “hook” a bulky hanger on a small hook under the ceiling. We will not repeat ourselves, speaking of a closed view, but rather we will remind you of the possible consequences of a serious accident, as a result of which the side curtain airbags will work.

Who do you think the hanger “thrown” from the hook by the “airbag” will fly into? It is unlikely that the driver will get it - but the passenger, who is located near the window, covered with a jacket, will not find it a little. Naturally, the likelihood of injury in such a situation is small. But, nevertheless, it is, so why tempt fate?

For office workers who have to carry a pressed jacket in the car every day, there is a better idea. On the shelves of car accessories stores, you can find a lot of different coat hangers clinging to the headrest of the front seat: it’s safe and the clothes don’t lose their appearance.
