Why is it not worth pouring plain water into the washer reservoir
In anticipation of the upcoming mass trips to out-of-town picnics, as well as on long-distance road trips, it is more important than ever to know that all units, including the windscreen washer, comply with active safety requirements and, if slushy weather happens on a hike, they will not let you down and will work properly.
Meanwhile, starting from the first days of spring, many motorists generally refuse to use special summer fluids and begin to pour ordinary tap water into the washer reservoir. Not knowing, as they say, that they are making a serious mistake, which often leads to defects in the windscreen washer system.
Correct application of automotive technical fluids, including those used in windshield washer equipment, will save money on unplanned repairs.
As a rule, first of all, water, especially if it is hard, affects the hydraulic pump installed in the car washer reservoir. The fact is that its impeller is designed to work with specially prepared windshield washer fluids containing components that act as a lubricant. There are simply no such components in ordinary water, therefore, if you use it regularly, you should not be surprised that at one fine moment the washer reservoir pump will either jam or simply burn out. But in both cases, the consequences will be the same - the liquid will no longer be supplied to the glass.
GLASS REMAINS DIRTY
The use of water has another significant drawback - it itself does not clean the windshield well from oily and limescale contaminants. Why? Because for this, the liquid must contain surfactant detergents. And in the water supply system, of course, they simply cannot be. What to do?
Experts of the German company Liqui Moly, having studied this situation, recommend: if you intend to continue pouring water into the tank, then use it in combination with concentrated detergent compositions specially designed for cleaning glass, for example, Liqui Moly Scheiben-Reiniger-Super Konzentrat superconcentrate.
CLEANLINESS IN A COUPLE OF SECONDS
This original product is packaged in plastic containers equipped with a proprietary dispenser. The dispenser is a special transition chamber, the walls of which are graduated. This design allows you to accurately mark the required amount of masterbatch, which is then mixed in a tank with water in a ratio of 1: 100. Simply press down on the bottle with your fingers and the liquid rises immediately into the measuring tank.
As shown by tests repeatedly carried out by our colleagues from the AvtoParade portal, windshield washer fluid, properly prepared using Scheiben-Reiniger-Super Konzentrat superconcentrate, has a pronounced washing activity. In just a couple of seconds, the windows become perfectly clean, and driving becomes more comfortable. The product easily removes various types of contaminants, including the dried remains of crashed insects, vegetable glue and bird droppings.
The concentrate can be used not only in car glass washers, but also for manual cleaning, including internal surfaces. After using the drug, a light pleasant peach smell remains in the cabin.
