Why is the parking brake on in my car?

In any case, you should take your vehicle in for a checkup and fix the problem that is causing the parking brake warning light to stay on, which can alert you to a problem that is compromising the performance of the brake system.

Indicators that come on on the dashboard warn you that something is wrong, they can indicate simple or very serious malfunctions. So it's best to pay attention when one of them lights up and check the system where it indicates a problem.

The parking brake has its own light, but it can light up for various reasons.

Possible reasons why the brake system light comes on:

– Brake Fluid Warning

– Parking brake on warning

– Worn or damaged brake pads

– ABS sensor warning

– Low voltage battery causing brake light problems

Why does the parking brake light stay on all the time?

When lit, the first thing to check is that the parking brake is fully released and that none of the brakes are stuck.

If your vehicle has a hand brake, make sure it is properly disengaged and fully lower the lever. If the electronic parking brake works with a button, make sure you release it correctly. If the electronic brake release is automatic and does not work at start, it is better to contact a mechanic.

If after that the light is still on, this may be the reason.

1.- If the parking brake warning light comes on intermittently, it may be right on the edge of the limit and the sensor is flashing on and off.

2.- You may not have enough brake fluid, especially if the indicator flashes while cornering.

3.- The sensor may be faulty.
