The claimed electric range of the GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 is 563 kilometers.

GMC's all-new Hummer EV positions the iconic nameplate of the future as it debuts powerful electric motors in a premium and well-equipped off-road package.

Importantly, the GMC Hummer EV may be considered for local right-hand drive conversions in Australia through the new General Motors Specialty Vehicles (GMSV) division, which will begin replacing existing Holden and HSV dealerships in the coming months.

While the Hummer EV retains boxy styling cues reminiscent of its H1, H2 and H3 predecessors, the all-electric vehicle stands out with its full-width LED strip and spacious high-tech cabin.

The Super Truck also boasts strong off-road capability with standard 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory tires, significant underbody protection, four-wheel steering with Crabwalk and adaptive air suspension that can increase its ground clearance by 152mm.

The Hummer EV will first be launched overseas in Edition 1, which uses three electric motors to deliver a claimed 745 kW and 15,591 Nm of power.

The torque figure quoted is likely a measurement of torque at the wheel, giving a higher power output than what is actually produced by the transmission, with some foreign publications reporting that the Hummer EV actually develops around 1085 Nm.

Either way, GMC says the Hummer EV Edition 1 will sprint from zero to 96 mph in three seconds and have an all-electric range of 563 km.

Inside, the Hummer EV is equipped with a 13.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system as well as a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster that can display up to 18 different camera views using the UltraVision underbody camera system.

A panoramic Infinity Roof and removable Sky Panels are standard on the Edition 1, as are a power rear window and trunk lid.

Depending on the variant, the Hummer EV can support 800 volt DC fast charging up to 350 kW, allowing for a 160 km range increase in just 10 minutes.

The Edition 1 version will launch in the United States late next year for $112,595 (AU$159,263), after which GMC will gradually roll out three full Hummer EV variants.

The EV2022X will be launched in 3 with a 596kW/12,880Nm tri-motor powertrain and a claimed range of 482km, followed by the EV2X in 2023, which uses a 466kW/10,033Nm twin-motor setup.

In 2024, GMC will finally release its base model EV2, priced at $79,995 (AU$113,208), which features the same electric motor configuration as the EV2, but has a shorter range of approximately 402 km.

The Hummer EV is believed to spawn a similar SUV variant as GM implements its plan to release 20 new electric vehicles by 2023.
