Time to switch to winter tires
A significant drop in air temperature in October led to the fact that many drivers have already decided to change their car tires to winter ones. Queues are already forming at factories selling and replacing tires.

The same is true for other plants. Many drivers, taught by experience, decided to change tires to winter tires in the second half of October. This custom has been practiced since 2009. Then in October the snow fell and everyone quickly gathered in the workshops. Now drivers prefer to overcome it before facing another surprise in the form of an early winter attack, recalls Jacek Kocon. “It is better to change the tires in the first half of October,” he advises.
Tire workers admit that most customers do not buy new tires, but use additional tires left over from past winter seasons. “People are just saving,” say the service people.
No wonder, because a set of new tires for a car costs an average of PLN 800-1000. The SDA does not oblige drivers to change tires to winter ones, and their absence is not punishable by a fine. However, it’s not worth saving on safety, the traffic police officers remind. If you want to change your tires quickly, it's best to book an appointment with a tire shop right away. The later we do this, the more likely we will have to wait in line. Or that it will snow and we will drive a car on summer tires.
Winter tires at low temperatures, even on a dry surface, can reduce the braking distance of a car by 30 percent. We were supposed to change tires adapted to winter conditions, when the average temperature during the day is plus 7 degrees Celsius. There are no regulations for replacing them, but for your own safety it is better to do this.
