It is difficult to find a car in the history of the automotive industry with a more established position and specific character than the Porsche 911. These three figures have become icons over the past 60 years. The shape of the case is as symbolic as the name. This phrase “why change something good” in its purest form. Dissatisfied constantly claim that this is a boring car without panache, straight from a bygone era. Nothing could be more wrong. And certainly in the case of the version that we had the opportunity to place in the editorial office - the latest Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS. While the legend behind this model seems to be ahead of any attempt at a review, we'll try to uncover our thoughts after a few days behind the wheel. And even in the back seat!

It is worth starting your adventure with the new Porsche 911 by trying to get a seat in the second row. This risky task, even impossible for some, allows you to quickly understand what is happening and what is likely to happen in a moment. Dispelling doubts: even a passenger taller than 190 cm can occupy the back seat, but setting the front seat in a configuration that allows it will not allow anyone to sit in front. The facts are cruel. Attempts with a filigree figure 1,6 meters high also failed. The seats are short, as are the backs without headrests. The only real solution may be to transport the child in a small car seat. Even two will do. The back seat leaves no illusions - this is a car designed for a maximum of a couple. Because the future is getting much more interesting.

Firstly, the seats are perfectly profiled, grippy in corners, with a wide range of position settings, and most importantly, comfortable for the first few tens of kilometers. They lose their edge after a long drive, but no one needs a comfortable sofa aboard a Porsche 911. After finding the right position (virtually every setting gives the feeling of sitting almost at asphalt level) a quick look at the cockpit. And we already know that we are dealing with a legend. The shape of the dashboard with characteristic air vents and a central tunnel clearly refers to the older brothers from the 911 brand. The details are captivating: an imitation of a key in the ignition that starts the car (of course, on the left side of the steering wheel) or an analog clock with a sports stopwatch. A simple three-spoke steering wheel, like in classic cars, is a tool with one key function. It is difficult to find control buttons on it, such as a radio. The audio system, if there are those who want to use a set of speakers, is controlled in the same way as an air conditioner or navigation - directly from the panel in the dashboard. This is a set of very clear and easy-to-learn buttons and switches. All the necessary information is displayed on a small but sufficient screen in the central part of the board. In turn, the most important driving information is presented in a set of 5 simple hours in front of the driver's eyes. As for the quality of the materials used, this is definitely the top, but the suede upholstery of the cabin fragments stands out even more, which perfectly matches the undeniably sporty character of the car.

Moving in new Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS from the details to the general, it is worth spending a longer time not so much behind the wheel as standing at a distance from the parked car. The visual experience cannot be overstated. Although the aforementioned consistent opponents of the legendary body line will immediately compare it with the equally famous Volkswagen Beetle, it is worth closing a possible discussion with a useful phrase: there is no arguing about tastes. But the fact is that the combination of the red paintwork of the body with powerful black matt alloy wheels in a classic design makes a phenomenal impression. The iron-clad consistency of Porsche designers is admirable. Here, in the next generation of the 911, we can easily recognize the silhouette of the car that debuted in 1963 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Continuing the exterior theme, an eye-catching element that effectively breaks the line is the optional auto-retracting, discreet spoiler with a low, flashy character.

This term perfectly describes the character of the Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS, which allows you to use its full potential. Once we have found the right driving position, the magic time comes. The first run of the car into the underground garage clearly shows what is about to happen. If you want to give all bystanders and yourself a sense of movement to your ears, you don't need to use a special button to exhale even louder. But you can. Why not? After driving the first kilometers, in addition to a distinct, but absolutely untouching noise in the cabin, one sensation dominates: controlled chaos. Emotions behind the wheel of a Porsche cause several significant figures: 3 liters of displacement, 450 hp. power and maximum torque of 550 Nm at just over 2 rpm! The icing on the cake is the catalog 3,6 seconds to the first "hundred". In a definitely subjective feeling: there is definitely enough power, contrary to popular belief, the most fun is the mentioned torque and the brutal noise of 6 cylinders. Even acceleration to 80 km / h leaves an unforgettable impression. No need for high speeds.

Worth mentioning. In the case of this car, you can not talk about a quiet driving mode. Of course, it's hard to hide behind the wheel of a red Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS. However, with a little imagination, you can try to adapt it to everyday tasks. The rear seat described should accommodate two child seats, front seats can be comfortable for short distances, and the driving position is considered comfortable. One of the most interesting solutions used in this car is the ability to temporarily increase the ride height at the front of the car. In theory, it is supposed to make it easier to overcome obstacles, curbs, etc. On practice? It is a pity that this option can only be used for a few tens of seconds after each switch is pressed. It is difficult to imagine even a brief stop in front of each speed bump. However, we see this element as a symbolic gesture and a small step towards adapting the Porsche 911 to the role of an everyday car.

Although this model is not and will not be everyday, it is still the object of desire of drivers around the world. After a dozen or so hours behind the wheel of the Carrera 4 GTS, we already know that it's loud, harsh, cramped and that... we don't want to get out of it!
