Porsche 911 GT2 RS, the Ultimate 911 – Sports Cars

At the Frankfurt Motor Show we saw up close the most monstrous of the 911, let's see in detail.

Sorry for the biturbo. If Porsche 911 GT3 RSwith its naturally aspirated six-cylinder boxer engine and race car tuning, it is the cleanest and sportiest of the 911s. what role does the 911 GT2 RS play then? Just that of monster... In Frankfurt, I was able to admire it up close, and I must say, I do not remember a more frightening machine. Short, broad and muscular. The wing is the size of an Airbus wing, and the front air intakes look like two flaps.

But perhaps the fear that inspires me is also related to his sensational numbers. WITH 700 h.p. and 750 Nm of torqueIn fact, the GT2 RS is the most powerful Porsche 911 ever.

TECHNOLOGY

Engine Porsche RS 911 GT2 this is the same 3,8 liter boxer we find in Turbo S no, thanks turbochargers more and with painstaking work on cooling, the power increases by 120 hp. In particular: the GT2 RS is equipped with an additional cooling system that sprays water mist into the intercoolers, reducing the temperature of the gases even at very high temperatures.

Ma the differences from the 911 Turbo S don't end there... In the Porsche 911 GT2, power is transmitted exclusively to the rear wheels; this means attributes are required to push it to the limit. The cantilever engine and very wide tires (in the back we find 325/30 ZR 21 tires) give it a lot of traction, but when power takes over, you need to be more than just a driver to deal with the oversteer.

However, unlike the previous generation GT2 RS, in the new one we find seven-speed sequential transmission PDK (instead of a six-step manual); a pleasant helper to never take your hands off the wheel.

We also find a braking system as standard. Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB), rear steering wheels and roll bar.

WORKING

The performance is monstrous too. New Porsche RS 911 GT2 spray it 0-100 km / h in 2,8 seconds and reaches maximum speed 340 km / h, numbers of hypercars.

Despite this, the GT2 RS also maintains a decent level of comfort: in fact, in the equipment we find the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) infotainment system, which also includes controls for the audio, navigation and communication systems. The module is also standard Connect Plus and the Porsche Track Precision app.

Il price slightly exceeds me EUR 290.000: they are almost 100.000 911 euros more than the Porsche XNUMX Turbo S; but to be honest, there would be no doubt.
