Test drive Porsche Cayenne GTS

  • Video: Porsche Cayenne GTS

The GTS has (of course) a six-speed manual transmission, and the final gear ratio is slightly shorter, which means even better acceleration? a good six seconds to 100 kilometers per hour. Instead of a manual transmission, a six-speed Tiptronic S automatic with modified shift points may be required. Even with this gearbox, the final ratio is shorter than that of the Cayenne GTS. The Sport button on the center console provides a sharper engine sound when pressed, accelerates engine and transmission electronics response and shifts the chassis to Sport mode.

The chassis is not only lower than that of the Cayenne S, but also much stiffer, the combination of steel springs with PASche Active Suspension Management (Porsche Active Suspension Management) is available for the first time in the Cayenne (so far only for sports cars of this brand.), Remains an acceptable level of comfort. and performance on winding roads is even better than before. This is also aided by the huge 295mm tires on 21-inch wheels. The Cayenna GTS is also desirable with air suspension, the system has two settings, normal and sporty (activated by pressing a button), which stiffens the shock absorbers if the car is also equipped with PDCC (Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control), and active anti-roll bars. The distance of the belly from the ground is reduced if the vehicle is equipped with air suspension.

The brakes are of course fit for the job: six-piston aluminum calipers and 350mm internally cooled discs at the front and four-piston calipers and 330mm discs at the rear.

All-wheel drive basically transfers 62 percent of the torque to the rear wheels, but of course it can (using an electronically controlled lamella clutch) adapt the ratio to the driver's requirements and road conditions.

Inside, you will recognize the Cayenna GTS by aluminum accessories on the dashboard and doors, new electrically adjustable sports seats, and the leather / Alcantara combination in the cabin (including the headliner).
