Porsche type 911 G

The first significant optical touch-up was made on the 911 model with the designation "G-model". It was the seventh version from the base model. The most striking feature is the rather protruding bumpers with rubber strips reaching to the fenders on the sides. The model destined for the US market had standard American shock absorbers in the bumpers, which neutralized a collision at speeds up to 8 km/h without leaving visible marks on the bodywork. In the German market, this unsightly solution is available as an option. All engines used in the G model have a displacement of 2,7 liters. Base model - 1 with 911 hp engine. version S - 150. The supply of mixtures is carried out by the Bosch K-Jetronic injection system.

After the huge sales success of its predecessor, Carrera ends the program as the interim top model of the entire series. The engine was transferred straight from the RS 2.7. The new Carrera is 4,3 meters long, with a wider rear (1652mm) than the regular 911 and S model due to the flared fenders to fit a 7-inch wide wheel. With a height of only 1,32 meters, the car has a rather flattened silhouette, and its weight ranges from 1075 to 1100 kg, depending on the version and configuration. The wheelbase remains the same as its predecessor, and is 2271 mm. The base version still has steel rims, while the other two versions come with light alloy rims as standard. Basic version with 150 hp engine. accelerates to hundreds in 9 seconds and has a top speed of 210 km / h. Fuel consumption is an average of 12 liters of conventional gasoline. With 1 HP engine. 175 to 225 takes a second less and the top speed increases to 100 km/h. Although this Carrera is 1975 kg heavier than the previous one, the performance remains the same. This top variant is also available in Targa version. A small retouch was made in 150, when the 6 hp model will also be given away! 15×911 alloy wheels as standard. Carrera differs from its younger brothers exterior mirrors and body color surrounding the headlights. The anti-roll bar is now painted black, as opposed to the previous silver. The following year, the modifications to the model are more serious: only 2,71 retains the current 165 engine, and its power is increased to 2993 hp. The Carrera is powered by a 3 cc engine with 200 hp. at 6000 rpm, torque 255 Nm at 4200 rpm. Blends are delivered using the proven and optimized Bosch K-Jetronic injection system. All components previously chromed on the Carrera are now matte black. The forged alloy wheels are still either 6" or 7" wide, but the car can be fitted with 7" front wheels and 8" rear wheels on request. Another novelty is a hot-dip galvanized sheet with a 6-year warranty. From now on, rust is practically out of the question, especially since all the recesses are still varnished, and the floor plate is protected from corrosion. In production vehicles, the driver can use an 5-speed gearbox and, as an option, a 3-speed Sportomatic gearbox. At the end of the 1974th year at the Paris Motor Show, Porsche presents the XNUMX Turbo, the world's first turbocharged production car, as an absolute novelty. The basis for this car was the Porsche Carrera XNUMX RS, which, in turn, was a road version of the racing car.

At a price of 68 thousand rubles. The customer received 260 hp, which the 3-litre boxer engine with Bosch injection develops at 5500 rpm. The KKK turbocharger compresses the intake air to a pressure of 0,8 bar. The transmission used a 4-speed gearbox. Rear wheels with 225/50 VR15 tires deliver 343 Nm of torque to the road at 4000 rpm. Front tires with 7 or 8 inch rims are only 2 cm narrower. The 1,80 m wide body, which is suspended 2 cm lower on the Turbo, is also correspondingly serious. Although all discs are internally ventilated, for the first time in a Porsche, the brake system couldn't quite handle the power; with longer and more intensive braking, the phenomenon of fading appeared. The front spoiler and its impressive rear counterpart on the hood make the Porsche Turbo unique. This model has no chrome parts. All trim elements are matt black or in body color. The Type 930 is available in both body styles. The package is complete: all tinted windows, heated windshield and rear windows, power windows, radio, leather upholstery and many other little things to improve driving comfort. The driver has to adjust to the delay in the turbo engine's reaction to the gas, "second thought": when the pedal is pressed hard, at first almost nothing happens. Only when the compressor builds up pressure, there is a powerful push. The jokes end at the gas station. The turbo engine does not go below 201 Super petrol, and more often than not burns much more, especially if we frequently check its 5-250 mph time of about 1978 seconds and a top speed of 3.3 km/h. exhausted. Back in 3,3, the second part of the rocket, Turbo 1, was launched. Judging by the designation, the displacement of this version has increased to 6,5 7. It will increase! also the compression ratio is increased from XNUMX to XNUMX.

Beneath the powerful rear spoiler is the charge air cooler, which also increases engine power. Tires and rims increase in diameter by 1 inch, but, oddly enough, acceleration does not improve. The compensation lies in the fact that the top speed of the 3,3-liter version has been increased by another 10 km / h. In the same year, the new Carrera does not appear; instead, the Porsche 911 with the additional designation SC receives a 3-liter 1 hp engine. ... This model uses a wide Carrera body. In 180, the company added another 1980 hp, and a year later, as a result of the change from regular gasoline to Super gasoline, the power increased to 8 hp. The Sportomatic transmission is no longer available.

According to the original plans, the history of the Porsche 911 was supposed to end in 1981. This would probably have happened if the company's CEO Ernst Riermann, who tied the future of Porsche AG with the 924, 944 and 928, could make the decisions. However, Fuhrmann was replaced by the American Peter Schutz, and the idea of ending production of the 911 dropped. This is certainly a good decision, since the front-engined models, although interesting, never became iconic and did not threaten the position of the 911. At the 1984 IAA in Frankfurt, Porsche showed a 911 studio convertible with a turbo engine and all-wheel drive. Those who saw it waited a long time for their pulse to return to normal. So the story of the Porsche 911 continues, although the pace of development has slowed down for a while. For the 1984 model year, the Carrera comes out again and the SC leaves, with engine displacement further increased. With a volume of 3200 cm3 and fully electronically controlled injection, the Porsche Type G develops 235 hp. and 284 Nm of torque, which means that acceleration to a hundred takes 6 seconds, and the maximum speed is 245 km / h. There are also the first cars with catalytic converters that take power a little - this is 207 hp, then 217 hp. With. The car is optionally equipped with spoilers front and rear. In its last year of production, the company is offering an above-average open version of the Speedster, a nod to the old 356 of the same name. The front fairing frame is significantly lower, and two “bumps” are visible in the boot behind the driver and passenger seats, under which there is a folding fabric roof. All models are available as coupe, targa or convertible. A smaller version of the Carrera called the Clubsport weighs 1160 kg and hits 8 mph in half a second less, while top speed is XNUMX km/h higher than the full version.
