Porsche Tops the U.S. Reliability List

Porsche boss Michael Macht said the challenge for the company was "not to achieve a high quality standard in the short term, but to deliver that quality for many years."

The German climbed up from 10th place in the JD Power Vehicle Reliability Survey, which surveyed more than 52,000 motorists of 36 vehicle brands sold in the US. They pushed Buick off the top back to third and Lincoln to second. Despite recent recalls due to safety concerns, Toyota placed sixth and scored the highest in its categories for Highlander (Kluger), Prius, Sequoia and Tundra pickups.

Honda, which finished seventh overall, won three categories for the CR-V, Fit and Ridgeline. Lexus, which had been number one for 14 years until last year, continued its slide to fourth place, while Jaguar dropped sharply from second to 22nd.

JD Power survey respondents are the first three-year-old car owners to be asked about potential problems in nearly 200 areas. Overall, JD Power found that vehicle reliability improved by 7%.
