A car in harsh winter conditions is going through hard times, so in the spring you should spend a little more time on it than usual.

Machine oil

If we drive less miles in a year than the distance we have to change the oil, don't wait until we reach the limit. The oil should be changed at least once a year, and the best time to do this is in the spring. In winter, the engine was underheated more often than usual, which had no effect on the condition of the oil well.

Coolant

Typically, manufacturers recommend changing it every two years. Long-term operation means not only an increase in freezing temperature (which is not dangerous in summer), but also a loss of anti-corrosion properties, which affects the durability of the radiator and the entire cooling system.

Brake fluid

Brake fluid should also be changed after the period recommended by the manufacturer. After this time, it loses its operational values, which include a lower boiling point, and this can be dangerous when you have to brake often and for a long time, for example in the mountains.

When changing the fluid, it is worth inspecting the brake system: check the condition of the linings, discs and drums, check for leaks.

You can add warm liquid to the winter liquid reservoir without fear of unwanted effects. If the tank is empty, you can fill it with a mixture of tepid liquid and clean water - it will be cheaper, although flushing will be slightly less effective.

By the way, it is worth checking the condition of the rubber bands of the wipers. If they leave stains on the glass, you should regret a few zlotys and put new ones.

What's in the fuel tank?

After winter, it may be that there is water or other contamination in the fuel, which can be manifested by difficult ignition, engine stalling at idle, and a characteristic interruption while driving. Then it is worth adding the appropriate preparation to the tank, a wide selection of which is available, for example, at gas stations. It is best to do this during refueling - a jet of fuel mixes the drug well.
