After winter, it is worth taking care of rugs
Spring is the time to replace those parts of our car that have worn out especially in harsh winter conditions. Rugs are one such item.
When should wipers be replaced? The first signs of wear are first single stains that appear on the glass during rain. After some time, there are more and more of them, until the janitor completely leaves whole glass fragments, leaving water on it. If the handle begins to break, permanent scratches appear on the glass.
We have a wide selection of wipers in our stores, so how do you choose the right one? The answer seems simple... and yet...
– “In classic design brushes, we find a hinge (in flat wipers it is replaced by a flexible rubber rail), which is designed to evenly press the wiper rubber to the glass. The quality of this element depends on a chemical treatment aimed at strengthening the rubber and reducing the frictional resistance in contact with glass. We buy wiper blades of a classic design (with an articulated frame), taking into account their length. On the product packaging you will find a list of car models for which it is intended,” advises Marek Godziska, Technical Director of Auto-Boss.
However, it is worth taking old rugs with you to the store. It happens that the feathers described as suitable for a particular car differ in length from the original ones. Also, the clamp for attaching the brush to the wiper arm may not fit. Flat wipers are equipped with adapters for various mountings. Manufacturers offer flat brushes with attachments, both for cars that were equipped with such wipers from the factory, and for cars with an articulated frame. “Remember that a flat blade that can be attached to a regular wiper arm doesn't make it a good choice. Flat blades adhere better to the glass than static blades, but have a different curve than classic blades. On the passenger side, this is important - a flat blade will stick out of the strongly curved glass, ”says Godzeszka.
In this case, an effective and aesthetic solution would be a classic handle that fits the glass better. First of all, you should follow the manufacturer's recommendations, indicating the models for which it is intended. Information can be found on the packaging or in the catalog in the store. However, more and more vehicles are equipped with flat wiper blades as standard. “So if the machine was equipped with flat blades from the factory, then this is what we should buy when replacing,” sums up the technical director of Auto-Boss.
The most important part of a windshield wiper blade is the edge of the rubber, called the tip. This element is in direct contact with the glass surface. Keeping it in proper condition for as long as possible will prolong the life of the pen. The wiper blade is made of rubber, a material subject to mechanical and chemical damage, as well as extreme weather conditions (frost and sun).
Few drivers remember that the rubber elements of the wipers are subject to the aging process and (as is the case with tires) are not used for a long stop. It is worth checking the condition of the wipers from time to time and cleaning the rubber elements from dirt. For their operation, the condition of the glass is also important - dirt and scratches accelerate the abrasion of rubber. Feathers also do not use the wax applied in automatic car washes - so wash and thoroughly degrease the glass after visiting the car wash.
