WSK 175 engine - the most important technical data

In 1971, the popular "Vuesca" appeared on the market with a 175 cm³ engine. It offered slightly more capacity than its predecessor (WSK 125cc) and a few amenities. Especially the comparison with the equally popular WFM showed that the plant in Swidnica was ready to switch to more modern solutions. For the WSK 175 motorcycle, oil-filled front shock absorbers were reserved, which dampened vibrations very well. Using a larger displacement resulted in 14 hp, which was measured at the crankshaft. This allowed the engine to accelerate the rider to a speed of just over 100 km / h.

Deceleration

The designers also thought about slowing down. Larger diameter drum brakes were used, allowing safe stopping. The driving experience was also due to the low curb weight of the car filled with liquids - the Kobuz version (the lightest) weighed around 112 kg, and the heaviest (Perkoz) - 123 kg. The steel frame with profiles provided the motorcycle with sufficient rigidity.

Two-stroke air-cooled WSK 175 engine

Regardless of the version, the power unit had the same principle of operation - 2T was called two-stroke. This meant adding just the right amount of oil to the tank to lubricate the engine. The WSK 175 engine was, of course, a single-cylinder engine, and the cylinder fins ensured efficient heat dissipation. This unit uses a battery electric starter and a 12-volt installation. Later versions changed it to 6 volts, although the headlight still required 12 volts. Problems that once seemed intractable are now trivial and can be solved quickly and relatively cheaply. And this makes this motorcycle popular again.

What breaks in WSK 175?

In principle, one could ask - what does not break in the WSK 175? In the first version, and in subsequent ones, there was a fundamental problem - the method of loading. In the 70s, it was hard to get a decent battery, so sometimes the motorcycle craze had to be put on hold. A faulty ignition today can be fixed by replacing it with a proven CDI system. In addition, sliders in the gearbox were noticeable.
