See how the Jeep Renegade is made

Jeep opens up to customers and invites them to the plant in Melfi, Italy. So he held a conference that introduced us to the world of American-Italian car manufacturing.

It is difficult for the younger generation to fall for cheap tricks. This was shown, for example, by the last presidential elections, in which the presence on the Internet played an important role. We are just a few clicks away from any information and we can verify it too.

Jeep renegade is aimed at younger clients, and this allows us to establish a modern relationship with them. Also, knowing that today you can’t hide anything, American Uncle Jeep welcomes guests with open arms. It focuses on transparency rather than hiding behind industrial secrecy. For this reason, from tomorrow, everyone can walk around the factory in Melfi.

The virtual image was created in collaboration with Google on the Google Street View platform. Why exactly here? As Nicola Intrevado, director of the plant in Melfi, said, why reinvent the wheel. Google's platform is ideal for such purposes, it works well and is widely known. This decision had many more advantages than building your own platform from scratch.

It took 3 days and 3 nights to prepare the virtual tour. Conveyor Jeep Renegade presents 367 panoramic photographs and seven 30-minute films, which in total took up as much as 20 terabytes of disk space. Unfortunately, our links are not yet able to quickly transfer such a volume of data, so after compression, 100 GB of panoramas await us. The whole enterprise covers more than 450 square meters of factory.

What can we see during such a walk? Production line for 7 people and 760 robots. Renegade consists of over 968 parts. We will observe the work of four production units, as during the photo session the production cycle was not disturbed. The line worked like every day. 

At the conference, we also heard a comment about the statistics of the Melfi factory. Since the beginning of production, 135 pieces have already been produced. Jeep Renegade. During this time, there were no defects, delays, losses or accidents. Moreover, the plant has not seen any accidents for 4 years, for which it received a special award.
