The long weekend of May is ahead. Although weather forecasts for the coming days are not optimistic, many Poles have planned shorter and longer trips for this time.
The police will monitor the safety of all road users - drivers, pedestrians and cyclists. Numerous checks that will be carried out on Polish roads have one main goal - that all motorists who are going to a "picnic" return from it only with positive impressions - safe and sound.
Anyone who plans to travel by car should check its technical condition, lighting and equipment in advance. The car must have a fire extinguisher and a warning triangle with approvals. It is also worth taking care of other items, such as a first aid kit or a reflective vest.
Due to the increased traffic on the roads, it is worth preparing in advance and thinking about alternative roads. This allows you to choose another road in the event of a traffic problem caused by a construction site or a traffic accident. On a longer route, you should go rested, preferably after 7-8 hours of sleep. When planning a trip, it is worth considering breaks that will allow you to overcome fatigue and take a break from a sitting position. It is also advisable to make allowances for possible traffic jams and other traffic accidents in order to be on time without developing excessive speed. In no case should you get into the car after drinking alcohol. If you are not sure about your state of sobriety, you can easily check it at any police station.
Before leaving, you should also think about how to properly secure your apartment or house. Make sure all doors and windows (including the basement and roof) are closed. We must not forget about the protection of the garage and utility rooms and shutting off the taps with water and gas.
You can also ask a trusted person to look after the apartment during our absence, leaving them a phone number where they can contact us at any time. During a longer absence, it is worth making sure that no more correspondence accumulates in the mailbox, which is a signal for a potential thief that the apartment or house is empty. A good solution is time programmers, thanks to which the light in the apartment lights up at different times of the day, which creates the appearance of the presence of household members.
