Driving during the day with the lights on reduces the number of accidents by 5 to 15 percent, so we will not discuss the legality of the rule requiring the lights to be turned on also during the day (between October 1 and the end of February) here. In any case, this issue is regulated by law - usually in the amount of PLN 150 fine and 2 demerit points.

In autumn, lanterns are more often used to illuminate the road than simply to indicate our position in relation to others. It used to be twilight and the rising mists don't help travels.

What to do and what to pay attention to so that driving is not only comfortable, but above all safe?

Usually we pay attention to the state of our lights only when they stop shining. There are two considerations for their safe operation. The first concerns the technical condition, the second settings.

After a year, the efficiency of our headlamps drops significantly, and this is noticeable to the naked eye. Unfortunately, using our car on a daily basis, we cannot keep it in time. The eye gets used to it. Evidence of a decrease in efficiency may be a situation when we replace one burned-out light bulb. You can see that the new one shines brighter than the old one. So if we're already listing, let's be consistent and replace both.

We will also take care of the electrical installation. The battery plays a “quite” important role in the lighting process - check it out, especially before winter.

The effectiveness of our headlights is also affected by the dirt that settles on them. Especially persistent in the autumn-winter season. Let's make it a habit to wash the headlights, for example, when we fill up the car.

Dirt inside headlights is harder to get rid of. This situation occurs when the lampshade is damaged or leaking. Dirt penetrates through the cracks, which in turn can significantly reduce lighting efficiency.

Like the technical condition of the headlights, their correct adjustment is also important. Otherwise, driving safety will be drastically reduced! In addition, we may blind other traffic users. Setting up the lighting at a service station takes about 20 minutes and costs between PLN 20 and 40. All you need is a simple tool. The second is follow-up. Even when we leave the station with our headlights perfectly tuned, then we gather the whole family, the dog and half the closet and go on a trip - it may turn out that our headlights still light up the moon! This problem is regulated by a small knob. We install them depending on whether the machine is more or less loaded.
