Driving with dirty windows often ends in a serious accident.

In winter, we often travel in very difficult conditions - in dense fog or during heavy rains. Many drivers then complain about poor visibility. Inefficient wipers are usually to blame. Take care of your visibility

Bad weather, sudden changes in temperature and normal operation lead to rapid wear of rubber. Rough and inoperative wipers scatter accumulated dust and other debris on the windshield. As a result, instead of improving visibility, they make driving more difficult for the driver.

The quality of cleaning depends on the interaction of two components: the arm and the wiper blade. The failure of one of them causes a lot of inconvenience, and in extreme cases even leads to serious accidents. The most common symptoms of wiper failure are smudges or unwashed areas left on the windshield, as well as jerking with accompanying noise.

If we observe any of these symptoms, this is an irrevocable signal that it is time to replace the wipers with new ones. Their choice on the market is very large. We can buy the cheapest ones for about PLN 10, while branded ones cost at least PLN 30. You can also buy only rubber bands for the rug - they cost about 5 zł, and even a non-specialist can handle the replacement.

In order for the new wipers to serve us as long as possible, it is worth remembering a few rules. Firstly, wipers are not used to defrost windows - rubbing rubber on frozen glass is an immediate breakdown of the brushes, which will no longer provide proper visibility. Also, do not tear off the wiper that has frozen to the windshield - it is best to install hot air on the windshield and wait a bit until the ice melts. When driving in low temperatures and with falling snow, it is worth stopping from time to time and cleaning the feathers, which become heavier with every kilometer and clean the windshield worse due to the rapidly freezing dirt and snow accumulating on them.

If the replacement of the brushes did not help, and there are stains on the windshield or the wipers are twitching, it is better to take a closer look at the washer fluid in the washer reservoir. The cheapest liquids on the market (usually in hypermarkets) often make driving a real pain instead of making it easier to clean windows. The only way to ensure good visibility is to replace the fluid with a new, better quality one. Saving a few zlotys in this case does not pay off at all, because our safety and the safety of other road users is at stake.

breakthrough invention

The history of rugs dates back to 1908, when Baron Heinrich von Preussen was the first in Europe to patent "rubbing oil". The idea was good, but, unfortunately, not very practical - the line was twisted manually using a special lever. The driver had to operate with one hand, or perhaps "hire" a passenger to operate the windscreen wiper.

A little later, a pneumatic mechanism was invented in the USA, but it also had drawbacks. The wipers worked well at idle - preferably when the car was stationary - and poorly when driving fast.

Only Bosch's invention proved to be a breakthrough. His windshield wiper drive consisted of an electric motor that, through a worm and gear train, set in motion a rubber-covered lever.
