The COVID-19 epidemic, which has been going on for almost two years, has caused severe disruptions in many areas of the economy. Airlines have been particularly hard hit in passenger travel, where air travel more than halved between Q2020 and QXNUMX XNUMX.

This led to a significant deterioration in the economic situation of handling companies, which was associated with the adoption of radical saving programs and led to a temporary suspension of all procurement procedures for the supply of new hangar and airport equipment.

However, the Military Central Design and Technology Office SA (WCBKT SA) is consistently implementing a GSE (Ground Support Equipment) reinforcement program on the Polish civilian market. This program is being implemented, among other things, by constantly expanding the range of products and services and drawing on more than 30 years of experience in securing the air bases of the Polish Armed Forces.

GPU 7/90 TAURUS manufactured by WCBKT SA. Robert Fiutak LS Airport Service, Katowice branch.

Currently, the company is the only company in the country that comprehensively equips Polish military airports with ground handling equipment.

WCBKT SA also plans to equip military airports with hangar and airfield equipment, which is currently being successfully produced for civilian airports.

Recently, however, the company's specialty in the civil aviation market in Poland has become the installation of fully equipped modern processing lines for cargo terminals.

Our flagship device for civilian customers is the 7/90 TAURUS GPU power supply. In addition, airport equipment manufactured by WCBKT SA includes, among other things, racks and trailers for pallets and air containers, baggage carts, passenger ladders and service platforms.

To meet the new requirements, in close cooperation with handling companies, the company designed and manufactured passenger ladders with a drive that allows you to freely maneuver in the cabin without the involvement of airport tractors. The constructed stairs can be operated by one operator, and not, as before, by three or even four people. This is very important from the point of view of the requirements of the National Labor Inspectorate and is a panacea for the shortage of personnel as a result of the pandemic.

The ladder is controlled by an operator cassette located on the ladder drawbar and an operator console on the ladder cabinet. All functions performed when maneuvering the ladder are performed using the operator's cassette, and stop operations are performed using the operator's console. Another novelty is the use of 4 Ah Li-Ion LiFePO350 batteries, which are characterized by much better parameters than traditional batteries.

WCBKT SA has also designed and recently produced a prototype luggage trolley for the transport of luggage and some cargo, for one of the leading cargo handling companies, WCBKT SA.

Both the passenger ladders and the luggage trolley have passed factory tests and will be handed over to a service company operating mines at the turn of September-October 2021. at Katowice Airport, in order to conduct functional tests in real operating conditions when servicing aircraft.

Taking into account the fact that the elimination of the negative consequences of the pandemic, which in the economic sphere are still taking place in the operation of transshipment companies, and the lack of prospects for a quick improvement in this situation, WCBKT SA created the opportunity to meet the needs, including the modernization or replacement of the GES, by launching the option of a long-term lease of equipment and commencement of operational leasing. The company hopes that the introduction of a new funding tool will make it more flexible to obtain the necessary technological solutions among recipient citizens.
