Checking and replacing fuses
Fuses are designed to blow, protecting the wiring harness and electrical systems from damage. If any of the electrical components are not working, the fuse may have blown. In this case, check and if necessary replace the fuses. Check the fuse carefully. If the thin wire inside is broken, the fuse is blown. If you're not sure, or it's too dark to see, try replacing the intended fuse with one of the same rating you know is good.
If you don't have a spare fuse, in an emergency you can pull fuses that may be indispensable in normal driving (eg audio system, cigarette lighter, OBD, heated seats, etc.) and use them if your current rating is the same. If you cannot use the same amperage, use a smaller one, but as close as possible. If the current is less than the specified value, the fuse may blow again, but this does not indicate a malfunction. Make sure you purchase the correct fuse as soon as possible and return the replacement to its original position.
Notice
- Always turn off the ignition system and the faulty electrical circuit before replacing a fuse.
- Never use a fuse with a higher current rating than specified and never use any other object in place of a fuse, even as a temporary measure. This may cause serious damage or even fire.
- If the replaced fuse blows again, have your Lexus dealer, repair shop, or other qualified and equipped person check your vehicle.
