Checking and replacing fuses
The fuses in your car serve to disconnect faulty circuits. If the fuse blows, all circuit components and their functions stop working. If the fuse blows, the inner element will melt. Blown fuses must be replaced with fuses of the same rating, identifiable by color and rating. Fuse ratings are indicated in the fuse assignment table.
If the newly inserted fuse also blows, contact a specialist workshop, such as an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer, to check and correct the cause.
Notice
- Before changing the fuse, secure the vehicle against rolling away and switch off all electrical consumers.
- Always disconnect the battery before repairing high current fuses.
- Always replace defective fuses with new fuses of the correct amperage. If you tamper with or cut the faulty fuse or replace it with a higher amperage fuse, electrical wires can be overloaded. This may cause a fire. There is a risk of accidents and injuries.
- Use only fuses that are approved for Mercedes-Benz vehicles and have the correct fuse rating for this system. Use only fuses marked with the letter "S". Otherwise, components or systems may be damaged.
