The advantages of electronic ignition on a VAZ 2107

Most VAZ 2107 cars until 2005 were equipped with a conventional contact ignition system. That is, everything is practically the same as it was decades ago. To be honest, the contact ignition system has long outlived its usefulness and has been replaced by a more modern and advanced electronic one. Until recently, my VAZ 2107 had contact ignition, and after installation, I simply could not recognize my car, which I will discuss in more detail below.

First, I would like to say a few words about how I put this whole thing on my car.

A few words about the installation of BSZ

There is nothing complicated in this procedure and everything is installed in the same places as in the old system. The only thing that is added to all this is the electronic unit - the switch, but there is a special place for it under the hood of the car on the left side.

If you decide to deliver all this, then you need to purchase a set of equipment in the store or at the car market, which includes:

  1. Trambler with lid
  2. Ignition coil
  3. Switch
  4. It is also advisable to buy new high-voltage wires (preferably silicone)

It turns out that you will need to change the old ignition coil and distributor for new ones from this kit, and also put a switch in a specially designated place. Its location looks like this:

The wires are connected quite simply and you certainly will not mix them up, since everything is on the plugs. The only thing to remember is the ignition coil wires, although it is better to put the wires on the new one immediately after removing the old coil, then everything will certainly be fine.

Also, it is worth paying attention that after installing the contactless ignition on your car, you must set the gap of the electrodes of the candles to 0,7-0,8 mm.

Now we can tell a little about the sensations that were after the first start of the engine. So, if on the contacts I started only with a suction on a cold one, now the car started up without any suction and kept constant speed. Moreover, before you had to wait at least five minutes until the engine warms up and only then you could start moving, otherwise the engine speed was poorly gaining.

With electronic ignition, immediately after starting, you can safely start moving and there will be no failures and loss of speed. The engine immediately starts to work smoothly and confidently. That is, earlier with a conventional system, the gap was 0,5 - 0,6 mm, and, accordingly, the spark was much smaller than now with an increased gap. This explains a lot.

After installing BSZ, there are no problems with burning contacts and their constant replacement. If earlier there was at least some observance of standards and the quality was not bad, now sometimes there are not enough contacts for 5 km.

The only thing that can be a minus of electronic ignition for VAZ “classics” is:

  • Considerable price. A set of equipment costs at least 2000 rubles
  • Failure of the hall sensor, which is best to carry with you in reserve, so as not to get up somewhere on the track

In general, this is a very good and convenient thing, compared to the contact system, there are much more advantages than disadvantages. Therefore, we can safely recommend to all VAZ 2107 car owners who have not yet decided to upgrade, install BSZ - you will be satisfied with the result.
