Roadside control. How to submit a coach for testing in the ITD? The technical condition of vehicles, working hours and the sobriety of drivers are strictly checked by inspectors of the ITD at each inspection of the cars. Intensified checks are being carried out across the country.

Checks are carried out both at established fixed points and on the main routes of communication. According to the guardians and tour operators, the inspectors also carry out activities in places where buses are scheduled to depart. The ITD first of all checks the technical condition of vehicles, as well as the sobriety and working hours of drivers. The inspectors emphasize that the checks will be very detailed, and wagons that may pose a threat will not be used on the route.

“Although the technical condition of the wagons is improving every year, there are still serious cases that the inspectors of the Road Transport Inspectorate eliminate in the course of their daily control activities,” said Elvin Gajadhur.

The Chief Inspector of Road Transport cited several cases of fatal violations identified by the ITD only during the June inspections of buses going to green schools. Some of them were in poor technical condition, with broken brake systems, seats without seat belts. The inspectors also banned traffic due to driver fatigue. There were also cases of overflow of vehicles.

“It is also worth paying attention to the basic rules that apply to longer, many hours of travel,” said Elvin Gajadhur during a briefing dedicated to the opening of the Safe Bus holiday. He emphasized that: – In such cases, there should be two drivers on the bus. It is important that working hours are respected. An exhausted driver can be no less dangerous than an intoxicated driver, said the chief inspector of road transport.

Anyone can submit a bus for inspection. It is enough to contact by phone or by e-mail with the territorially competent regional road transport inspectorate. WITD telephone numbers and a list of permanent checkpoints are available on the website of the General Traffic Inspectorate: www.gitd.gov.pl/kontakt/witd. We must remember to give notice a few days before departure so that the inspectors can properly plan their activities.

Inspectors check more and more cars.

Parents and guardians of children going on vacation are increasingly willing to take advantage of the "Safe Bus" campaign and hand over cars for technical inspection. Thanks to the actions of traffic police inspectors, a parent can be sure that his child is going on vacation in a serviceable bus with a rested driver.

During last year's holidays alone, inspectors conducted more than 2 technical inspections - almost half a thousand more than in the summer of 2016. Unfortunately, not all cars were safe buses. The inspectors imposed more than 600 fines and seized 105 registration certificates. In 26 cases it was necessary to prohibit further driving.

"Safe Bus" is the flagship campaign run by the Road Traffic Inspectorate since 2003. From the very beginning, safety has been a priority. During the period of increased departures, i.e. on holidays and holidays, inspectors of the Road Transport Inspectorate carry out checks of wagons as part of the action.
