Hello America!

SCS Software decided to return to the homeland of big trucks and take us on a journey through the sun-warmed roads of North America.

In American Truck Simulator we will be able to transport goods across sunny California, the Nevada desert and Arizona, famous for the Grand Canyon, and in the DLC also New Mexico with desert and mountain routes or dense forests. The creators took care of creating an extensive road network with numerous gas stations, motels and vehicle weighing points. In each of the states, we can find its largest cities with a well-reproduced unique atmosphere, as well as many characteristic buildings. The movement is very realistic, and the game is full of such flavors as people unpacking packages from a van by the road, or bushes blowing through the desert. Traveling through this vast and diverse world is a lot of fun. The views are amazing - several times I couldn't help but enter photo mode and take a series of photos.

We start the game by creating a profile and choosing the city in which our company's headquarters should be located. In the beginning, we will drive for other employers, but when we earn the required amount, we will buy our own car and start developing our company by hiring drivers, buying garages and expanding the truck fleet. There are four car models that can be significantly modified by changing their technical parameters and appearance: Kenworth W900, Kenworth T680, Peterbilt 389 and Peterbilt 579.

On various types of semi-trailers, we can transport many types of cargo - even large items of several meters, such as a large crane. At the end of the order - when we enter the premises of the company to which we are to deliver the trailer with the goods - we choose how we want to park it: either skip this step altogether, or do it ourselves, but choose an easy parking spot, or take the parking lot semi-trailer in a rather difficult place. I always choose the latter option because it is a lot of fun and satisfaction.

After each delivery, we receive a reward in the form of money and experience points. The amount of the payment depends on how quickly we delivered the goods, whether we damaged it, and how we decided to park the trailer. Experience points can be used to unlock various bonuses and permits, such as an additional reward for safe transportation of cargo or a permit to transport flammable cargo.

The game is very well done in terms of physics and controls. Trucks behave realistically and you really feel like you are driving something big and powerful (also because of the sound) - I drove with a Logitech steering wheel and it was a lot of fun. They are modeled incl. systems such as air brakes, retarder and various types of transmissions. Game settings, including controls can be changed to a large extent. The visual setting is at a high level and you can really admire the beautiful landscapes observed "at work".

It is worth adding that many free modifications have been created and are being created that add all the fun, such as new trucks, trailers, sounds or areas.

SCS Software made a good game with a great atmosphere - thanks to it we can feel like the kings of American roads.
