Mileage and vehicle condition. Check which car you are really buying

The mileage of the car is of great importance and affects the condition of certain mechanisms. When buying, it doesn’t matter which car you should take into account the wear of certain parts or malfunctions that appear along with the mileage. Here is a brief description of cars with mileage of 50, 100, 150, 200 and 300 thousand. km.

Car with 50 miles. miles like new

Each used car with a mileage of up to approx. 50 thousand km can be treated like newbut of course it is not. It has some advantages and disadvantages. The advantages include the occurrence of any minor malfunctions, which in practice can be considered a disadvantage. Nothing breaks in the car during this run, so almost any defect can be called a manufacturing defect.

However, there are some disadvantages arising from the fact that the car already has such a mileage. First, it is the very fact of the sale. If someone sells a car with such mileage, and he was going to do it initially, he does not regret it. Therefore, it is worth asking about the reason for the sale, because sometimes it follows from a random situation.

The second disadvantage of such a machine is oil change. The car is probably still being serviced at an authorized service station, or has been serviced for a while, so the oil has probably also been changed according to the manufacturer's recommendations. Probably around 20-30 thousand. km, which is too much. But one or two such exchanges is not a drama yet. Worse, if this took place during the course of the order of 100-150 thousand. km.

After such a run, it may be necessary minor suspension repairsand also change the oil in the gearbox. The tires will probably also be replaced.

A car with 100 miles. km runs like new

As a rule, the condition of such a car is close to new, and the chassis has not yet been worked out, the body has not loosened on bumps. It means that the car still drives like new.but this is no longer new.

Such a machine is usually already requires the first serious examination - it will be necessary to replace fluids, filters, brake pads and discs, suspension elements, air conditioning maintenance, and sometimes replacing the timing drive. In vehicles with direct injection, there is usually some amount of carbon in the intake system. The diesel DPF filter may already have burned out in service mode.

A car with 150 miles. km - wear begins

A car with such mileage deserves better service. If the timing belt is responsible for the timing drive, it must be replaced regardless of service recommendations. Accessory belts must also be replaced. If the chain is responsible for the timing, it must be inspected.

Cars with such mileage are also shown the first centers of corrosion, although this - usually more mileage - depends on the operating time. Unfortunately, they may already appear in the transmission. first oil leaks, and the clutch or dual-mass wheel may be replaced or is on the verge of wear. Diesels can have a bad EGR filter and DPF, and GDI gasoline can have so many deposits that the engine won't run properly. In the suspension, shock absorbers may no longer have the proper effectiveness.

A car with 200 miles. km - expenses begin

Although cars with this mileage sometimes make a good first impression and appear to be in good condition, an in-depth inspection reveals flaws that far exceed the expectations of the average buyer.

From this course you will already feel it wear of mechanisms, which, according to the manufacturer, must be maintained throughout the entire period of operation. They can be, among other things, the gearbox, turbocharger, injection system, wheel bearings, sensors, rear suspension.

Diesels are usually still in good condition, but this does not mean that they are in good condition. Here you should expect high costs in the case of these less durable engines.

A car with 300 miles on it. km - almost worn out

Mileage around 300 thousand. km rarely withstand large nodes without repair. Yes, engines and gearboxes can withstand another 200. km, but this does not mean that nothing will be done with them. Cars in which only wearing parts are replaced after such a run are rare.

Moreover, there are already cars with such mileage atypical malfunctions that are practically not expected in an authorized service center. These can be: deep corrosion or cracks in the bodywork, equipment failures, broken handles and levers, or faulty electronics (old contacts, cold February). In many cars after this run Wiring is also a problem. (corrosion, cracks).

Of course that's all does not mean that a car with a mileage of 300 thousand km should be scrapped. In my opinion, there are many models that - to be in the condition described above - need not 300, but 400 thousand. km. It is important that the car is regularly serviced and repaired, and instead of being written off, there is a copy with a mileage of 200-300 thousand. km in good hands can find a new life.
