If you are looking for a used Fiat vehicle, you can consider vehicles through their Certified Used Program. Many manufacturers have a Certified Used Car Program (CPO) and each is set up differently. Fiat, for example, calls its program "Certified Pre-Driven". Read on to learn about the features of the Fiat CPO program.

Fiat-certified vehicles are always under five years old, have less than 75,000 miles on them, and come with a seven-year/100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty from the factory.

Inspection

To ensure that all certified used vehicles are safe on the road, Fiat submits all CPO vehicles to a 125-point test that includes the following procedures and areas:

  • Checking under the hood
  • Operational checks
  • Road test
  • Steering performance
  • Equipment operation
  • Power unit performance
  • Braking efficiency
  • Scheduled maintenance
  • External and internal condition and detailing

Warranty

Fiat CPO vehicles come with a limited warranty that covers the repair or replacement of major powertrain components (including engine, transmission, and transmission) for six years or 80,000 miles, whichever comes first. The warranty also includes certain benefits, including:

  • Complete CARFAX vehicle history report including service book.

  • A XNUMX-hour roadside assistance program that offers emergency and safety services including: flat tire service, up to two gallon gas supply, battery jump assistance, lockout service, and towing services.

  • Reimbursement for rental services if your vehicle requires warranty repairs up to $35 per day (maximum $175 per copy).

  • Three-month trial subscription to Sirius XM All Access Satellite Radio.

Prices

Buying a Fiat certified used car instead of a used car can affect the price at most dealerships. Net profit will typically be about 8% higher than a typical "used" car.

For example, at the time of this writing in April 2016, a used Fiat 2012 Hatchback 500 had a Kelly Blue Book value of $8,193; the same car in the Fiat CPO program costs about $8,868.

Compare Fiat to other certified used car programs

Whether or not you choose to use a CPO vehicle, it is always wise to have any used vehicle inspected by an independent certified mechanic before purchasing it. A certified used car does not mean that the car is in perfect condition, and any used car can have serious problems that are not visible to the untrained eye. If you're in the market to buy a used car, schedule a pre-purchase inspection for complete peace of mind.
