If you are looking for a used Subaru vehicle, you can check out the vehicles through their certified used program. Many manufacturers have a Certified Used Car Program (CPO) and each is set up differently. Read on to learn about the features of the Subaru CPO program.

Certified used Subaru vehicles must be no older than six years, have less than 70,000 miles, and carry a seven-year/80,000-mile limited powertrain warranty.

Inspection

To ensure that all certified used vehicles are safe to drive, Subaru CPO vehicles must pass a 152-point test that includes all major vehicle systems and components. Any part that does not meet the standards of Subaru technicians must be repaired or replaced in order for the vehicle to be considered for the CPO program.

Warranty

Subaru CPO vehicles come with a limited powertrain warranty that covers repairs and replacements for seven years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first, and does not require a franchise. Subaru also offers two extended warranty plans, the "Classic" Full Coverage Plan and the Full Coverage "Gold Plus" Plan, both of which provide even more coverage for more vehicle components, including:

  • ENGINES
  • Transmission
  • Bridge
  • Suspension
  • Control mechanism
  • brakes
  • Electrical
  • Охлаждение
  • Fuel system
  • Conditioners

All warranties also include the following additional benefits:

  • Complete CARFAX vehicle history report including service book.

  • A XNUMX/XNUMX roadside assistance program that offers emergency and safety services.

  • Reimbursement for rental services or free transportation if your vehicle requires warranty repairs.

  • Three-month trial subscription to SiriusXM Satellite Radio.

The exact amount of reimbursement or roadside assistance can be obtained from an authorized certified Subaru used car dealer.

Prices

Buying a certified used Subaru instead of a used car can affect the price. Net profit will typically be about 8.5% higher than a typical "used" car.

For example, at the time of this writing in April 2016, a used 2010 Subaru Legacy had a Kelly Blue Book value of $13,990; the same car in the Subaru CPO program costs about $15,190.

Compare Subaru to other CPO programs.

Whether or not you choose to use a CPO vehicle, it is always wise to have any used vehicle inspected by an independent certified mechanic before purchasing it. A certified used car does not mean that the car is in perfect condition, and any used car can have serious problems that are not visible to the untrained eye. If you're in the market to buy a used car, schedule a pre-purchase inspection for complete peace of mind.
