This system has annoyed Tesla buyers for years. The effects were, to put it mildly, so-so. Tesla wipers in automatic mode sometimes worked properly, and sometimes just wrong. - for example, they did not start during drizzle.

The latest firmware version is 2021.4.15.6 for Tesla owners, which is an order of magnitude higher than the one Green mentioned - it is said to work perfectly. But so far, only Tesla Model 3 owners who have cars with FSD computers are satisfied (HW3, source). On an older hardware platform (HW2.5), the software doesn't change anything or even, as some have pointed out, makes the wipers work worse.
