PTV Plus – Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus

PTV Plus is a new system that improves driving dynamics and driving stability.

It works by varying the distribution of torque to the rear wheels and uses an electronically controlled rear differential. Depending on steering angle and speed, accelerator position as well as yaw moment and speed, PTV Plus improves maneuvering and steering precision by purposefully braking the right or left rear wheel.

More precisely: when cornering, the rear wheel is subjected to slight braking within the corner, depending on the steering angle. Thus, the rear wheel outside of the curve acquires more driving force and contributes to additional rotational motion in a given direction. The result: straighter and more dynamic cornering. Thus, at low to medium speeds, PTV Plus significantly increases agility and steering precision. At high speeds, in the event of fast cornering and wheel spin, an electronically controlled rear differential provides greater driving stability. The system, together with Porsche Traction Management (PTM) and Porsche Stability Management (PSM), also expresses its strengths in terms of driving stability, even on uneven terrain, in wet and snowy conditions.

When used off-road, PTV Plus reduces the risk of rear wheel spin, even when towing a trailer. By pressing the off-road rocker button located on the center console, the electronically controlled rear differential can be locked to 100%.
