A study commissioned by Volvo Car Warszawa shows that more than 70% of parents allow their children to play with a tablet while driving. Unfortunately, only 38% of them provide it properly.

Each of us remembers endless car trips, when we, like a donkey from a famous cartoon, were bored and asked: “Is it still far?” Thanks to the development of technology, we can now simply play a fairy tale or a game on a tablet for a child and focus on the road, overcoming even the longest routes. However, it should be remembered that loose objects, such as a tablet in the hands of a child, can damage not only in an accident, but also during sudden braking. According to the Automotive Institute, an unattached object in a collision at a speed of 50 km / h becomes 30-50 times heavier. For example, a 1,5-liter bottle can weigh 60 kg in a collision, and a smartphone 10 kg.

Safety first of all

In its latest campaign, Volvo notes that the safety of children while traveling depends largely on the proper protection of the tablets that children use while driving. A study commissioned by Volvo Car Warsaw shows that more than 70 percent. parents let their kids play with the tablet while driving. Unfortunately, only 38 percent. of which use any fixing clamps or fittings. This is mainly due to the fact that more than half of the respondents do not know that the tablet can become dangerous for travelers in the event of an accident. Parents who use a tablet holder also protect other items such as books, phones, cups or water bottles, keeping travelers safe. The Polish Highway Code does not clearly state that heavy or sharp objects inside the vehicle must be secured or secured due to the risk of injury to people in the vehicles. However, this is worth paying attention to. The tablet holder will prevent the electronic device in the hands of the child from turning into a dangerous brick.

Long journeys are burdensome both for the little ones and for parents who are trying to attract the attention of young passengers and feel a little peace in the cabin. It is worth providing the little passenger with creative entertainment that will make the journey more enjoyable. According to Volvo research, singing is the most common way to engage your child. This form of play ranks first among parents, 1%. of them talk to their children during the trip, and 22% tell them stories.

– Even shorter trips are unpleasant for children. Therefore, it is very important to properly prepare for spending these few hours in the car. First of all, you should speak, translate and tell in advance. The fact is that the trip should not be a surprise for the little ones. Second, you need to schedule stops. We must remember that a few hours in such a limited space as a car is a big test for a small child. Thirdly, you must prepare entertainment. I recommend a few things that suit us, such as audiobooks - classic fairy tales and less typical ones, such as the brilliant version of the audiocomic book "The Shrew of Fate". A scavenger hunt type field game is also good.
