Five stars only from ESP

Euro NCAP tightens security testing rules. It will not be possible to earn five stars if the car is not equipped with an ESP stabilization system.

From 2009, only cars with ESP will be able to get the maximum score from Euro NCAP. This is the effect of introducing an additional estimate. In addition to checking the safety of adult occupants, children in the car, and pedestrians involved in a car collision, the vehicle's safety systems will also be taken into account.

“The new rating system should encourage car manufacturers to be more concerned about safety,” says Dr. Michel Van Ratingen, General Secretary of Euro NCAP.
