Heavy impacts will prevent the vehicle from hitting the suspension too quickly when cornering or driving over bumps. Relaxing the setting will greatly increase comfort, but sporty driving will be difficult due to the many body movements and excessive pitching. Know that engineers are racking their brains to find the perfect symbiosis between the two so that they work at their best. This is all the more difficult when the car is high on its feet (SUV).

Note that the spring can be replaced with airbags in the case of air suspension, leaf springs (flat metal rods, rather for trucks carrying heavy loads / old cars) or torsion bar, but a shock absorber must always be present. ... Controlled suspensions make the shock (2) more or less flexible in its movement by playing with the small internal valves (other methods exist). The latter affect the fluid flow that unites it: the easier the fluid flows from top to bottom during reciprocation, the more flexible the damping will be.

Types of shock absorbers
