The new BackCountry Edition builds on the popular Ram 1500 Big Horn and Lone Star models, offering customers an active lifestyle with off-road features straight from the factory.

Automakers continue to refine their offerings to meet the specific needs of truck buyers. As a result, today's off-road truck enthusiasts have more options with the addition of Ram 1500 BackCountry Edition. This new edition is based on the Big Horn and Lone Star models from the Ram 1500 line and is aimed at buyers who want to spend more time off the tarmac and in the field.

1500 Ram 2022 BackCountry: Built for off-road adventure

According to Stellaantis, hean all-new 1500 Ram 2022 BackCountry Edition available Q2021 XNUMX.It comes in Double Cab and Quad Cab configurations. In addition, the 8-litre V5.7 engine, available with or without torque boost electric motor, provides power to the standard all-wheel drive system.

Notable features that set the BackCountry Edition apart from its brethren include 18-inch black wheels; two-tone black exterior paint; black fender and tailgate emblems, body-color exhaust tips, headlight bezels, mirrors, footpegs and grille surround; and canvas cover.

Vehicle with off-road ability

The Ram 4×4 off-road group is standard. It includes tow hooks, skid plates to protect the front suspension, transfer case, power steering and fuel tank, electronically locking rear differential, off-road shock absorbers, hill descent control and off-road tires. Also included is the Ram's Bed Utility Group, which has adjustable anchor points, a bed extension (if equipped with a RamBox), a fold-down bed step, LED bed lighting, and a spray-on underlay.

Inside, the BackCountry Edition offers a black cloth interior with bucket seats. In addition, the BackCountry badge on the dashboard and Mopar all-weather floor mats create a unique and functional interior. Stellantis has priced the 1500 Ram 2022 BackCountry with an MSRP starting at $40,085., just below $42,080 Laramie.

A brief overview of the Ram 1500 Big Horn and Lone Star models

According to Ram, the 1500 Big Horn is available with or without the Lone Star designation, depending on the configuration chosen. There are two V6 and two V8 engines to choose from, each combining an electric motor to create a hybrid version with increased torque. The non-hybrid V6 is the only diesel option. Each engine configuration is supported by an eight-speed automatic transmission that provides power for all-wheel drive or FWD systems.

Big Horn and Lone Star models are available in Crew Cab or Quad Cab configurations with a variety of colors and wheel options to further customize the truck's appearance. There's also a list of standard and available safety features. The Big Horn and Lone Star sit just above the base Tradesman and just below the slightly more luxurious Laramie, and have a base MSRP of $37,390.
