Range Rover Sport - exclusivity and versatility

The exclusive SUV from the UK will prove itself in many roles. It is able to overcome difficult terrain, carry seven people and drive at the speed of a quality limousine. Who would like to own a versatile Range Rover Sport must prepare at least PLN 319.

Sales of the new Range Rover started last year. The five meter car with a huge wheelbase (2,92 m) provides royal comfort on the road and is still great for off-road driving. The manufacturer is aware that the circle of customers who need the same big car and who can afford to spend at least PLN 0,5 million is limited.

The alternative is the Range Rover Sport, which is stylistically and technically closely related to the flagship Range Rover. Sport is 14,9 cm shorter, 5,5 cm shorter and 45 kg lighter than its exclusive brother. The shortening of the rear overhang reduced the capacity of the trunk. The Range Rover holds 909-2030 liters and the Sport 784-1761 liters. Despite its smaller body, the Range Rover Sport still looks impressive. The body is full of regular, massive lines. Optical counterweight to them - wheels with a diameter of 19-22 inches and short overhangs, thanks to which the car feeds itself dynamically.

Land Rover takes the Polish market very seriously. Warsaw is the third city in the world (after New York and Shanghai) where the presentation of the Range Rover Sport took place. Potential buyers could see two prototypes. The importer also provided stencils for lacquers, leather and decorative strips - their unusual shape attracts attention. Lacquers can be seen on moldings resembling helmets, skins are found on rugby balls, and decorative inserts can be admired on oars and skis. The name Sport obliges!

The interior of the Range Rover Sport captivates with noble materials, impeccable finishes and a modern and elegant design. The instrument cluster is the brightest element of the cabin. The necessary information and counters are displayed on a 12,3-inch screen. The number of buttons and switches is reduced to the necessary minimum. The state of affairs is due to the touch screen on the center console, which allows you to control most of the car's functions.

The driver is assisted by a mass of electronics. There were also systems to warn of inadvertent lane departures, recognize traffic signs, or automatically turn on high or low beams. An optional head-up color display lets you follow directions and monitor engine speed and RPM without taking your eyes off the road. Connected Car, on the other hand, allows you to check the status of your car through an app installed on your phone. If necessary, it provides the ability to track a stolen car and allows you to call for help. The car can also act as an Internet access point.

By default, the Range Rover Sport will be offered in a five-seat configuration. Third-row electric seats are an option. They are small and only suitable for transporting minors.

Body Range Rover Sport is made of aluminum. The use of expensive technology contributed to a weight reduction of up to 420 kg compared to the previous generation Sport. No car enthusiast needs to be told how the removal of such a large amount of ballast has a tremendous impact on the driving performance and handling of the car.

The manufacturer guarantees that the new Range Rover Sport will have the best traction in the history of the brand, while maintaining unrivaled performance in the field. Standard equipment on all versions includes a multi-link suspension with air bellows, which allows you to increase ground clearance from 213 to 278 mm. At speeds up to 80 km/h, the body can be raised by 35 mm. In the previous generation Range Rover Sport, this was only possible up to 50 km/h. This change will allow you to move more efficiently on damaged dirt roads. The driver can independently control the characteristics of the chassis or use the automatic mode of the Terrain Response 2 system, which is able to select the most suitable program for driving on a given terrain.

Range Rover Sport will be offered with two types of all-wheel drive. If you don't want to go off-road, opt for a TorSen differential that automatically sends more torque to a more grippy axle. Under optimal conditions, 58% of the driving force comes from the rear.

The alternative is an 18kg heavier drive with transfer case, reduction gear and 100% central diffuser – an option for the more powerful turbodiesel and V6 petrol engine. Equipped in this way, the Range Rover Sport will perform well on more difficult terrain. Then one of the useful functions can be Wade Sensing - a system of sensors in the mirrors that analyze the car's immersion and show on the central display how much is left to reach the XNUMX cm limit.

In the early stages of production, the Range Rover Sport will be available with four engines - petrol 3.0 V6 Supercharged (340 hp) and 5.0 V8 Supercharged (510 hp) and diesel 3.0 TDV6 (258 hp) and 3.0 SDV6 ( 292 hp). Diesel power 258 hp already provides excellent performance. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7,6 seconds and has a top speed of 210 km/h. The flagship 5.0 V8 Supercharged engine is compatible with sports cars. It reaches “hundreds” in 5,3 seconds and reaches speeds of up to 225 km/h. Ordering the Dynamic package increases the top speed to 250 km/h.

Over time, the range will be supplemented by a 4.4 SDV8 turbodiesel (340 hp) and a hybrid version. The manufacturer also mentions the possibility of introducing a 4-cylinder engine. Currently, all Range Rover Sport powertrains are paired with an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission. Also standard is the Stop/Start system, which reduces fuel consumption by seven percent.

The previous Range Rover Sport sold 380 units. The manufacturer hopes that the new version of the car, more advanced in all respects, will receive even greater recognition from buyers.

The first copies of the Range Rover Sport will arrive in Polish showrooms in the summer. Buyers will be able to choose between four trim levels - S, SE, HSE and Autobiography. An option for the top two will be the Dynamic Sport Package, which, among other things, replaces most of the chrome bodywork with black and includes Brembo-branded brakes.

The base version of the Range Rover Sport 3.0 V6 Supercharged S was valued at $319,9 thousand. zloty. Two thousand PLN must be added to the base turbodiesel 3.0 TDV6 S. Those who wish to purchase the flagship version of the 5.0 V8 Supercharged Autobiography Dynamic must prepare 529,9 thousand rubles. zloty. In a huge catalog of options, most buyers will find at least some interesting options. Thus, the final invoice amounts will be even higher.

Range Rover is not thinking of cutting the price. This is not necessary, because the demand for new SUVs is huge. Suffice it to say that in some countries orders with a car delivery date autumn/winter are accepted!
