Facial recognition in factories

At SPS IPC Drives in Germany, Omron showcased its facial recognition technology for industry. This may be a completely new area of application for this technique, so far known more from consumer applications.

Okao, as the technology was called, is a network of cameras and a vision system that detects and analyzes facial expressions and gestures of machine operators. It recognizes, analyzes and processes facial features and thus determines gender and emotional state. Using patented statistical analysis techniques, it is able to match a XNUMXD face image with a XNUMXD model generated from a stereographic analysis of the face shape in the database. Can be used as additional protection for industrial systems.

This is not only about access to the car only for specific people, but also, for example, about the principles of health and safety. The system can, for example, based on video surveillance, prevent you from approaching a running machine.
