Extended test: Ford Fiesta 1.0 EcoBoost 74 kW Titanium – Z excellent!

“This Fiesta is one of those cars that is becoming increasingly rare and lets the driver know that the development engineers were thinking about more than fuel consumption, ecology, price or the number of drink holders. That's why the steering is pleasingly precise and properly weighted, and the chassis is still solid enough to make this Fiesta smash into corners with gusto, so with the right commands with the steering wheel, throttle, and brakes, the rear end glides smoothly,” we wrote in the first test. Has our opinion changed after a good seven thousand kilometers?

No, absolutely not. Chassis-wise, the Fiesta is exactly what we wrote, but it's not the sportiest ST model that's been introduced in recent times. This one is much better in this area; but it's also less comfortable, and the comments of those who have accumulated many miles on the Fiesta clearly show that they are pleased with its comfort. Some even consider it an outstanding commodity, especially when it comes to very bad roads or gravel.

So, engine? This one also received good reviews even from colleagues who were trying to catch up with much more powerful cars on German tracks. And since during our Fiesta there were quite a few such kilometers, and most of the rest accumulated on our highways and in the city, it is clear that the total consumption is not the lowest: 6,9 liters. But at the same time, from the fuel bills it can be seen that the consumption during periods when there was a lot of everyday use (small city, a little outside the city and a small highway), it barely exceeded five and a half liters. - Even on our normal circle it was like that. This means two things: the price to pay if you want to listen to a nice three-cylinder petrol engine instead of an annoying diesel is not high at all, and that financially, given how much more expensive a diesel Fiesta is, buying petrol is a smart decision.

What about the rest of the car? The label "Titanium" means the presence of a sufficient amount of equipment. The Sync3 infotainment system was praised, except for the fact that many drivers found its screen turned too little (or not at all) towards the driver. It sits great (even on very long trips) and there's plenty of room in the back (depending on the class of the Fiesta). The same with the trunk - we did not comment on it.

So the Fiesta as a whole is a very pleasant, modern car, only the gauges are too similar in design and technology to those of older Fords - but even some like it more than modern, all-digital solutions. And while it offers no less than the competition in terms of consumption and usability (also in terms of money), what we wrote about at the beginning also contributes to such a good experience: it makes the driver happy. drive. It can be a car that I sit in with joy and positive expectation, and not just a car that needs to be transported from point A to point B. So it deserves high praise.
