Spaciousness and flexibility are at least some very important criteria for choosing a car. With the advent of hybrids, flexibility was taken care of, but there is not space everywhere. Many choose fashion, but for those who are looking for enough space, the Opel Zafira may also be the right choice. We have already read that Opel is considering abolishing it in a few years. And that would be a mistake. The Zafira is a solid car that can easily compete with rivals like the Scenic or Touran. And there are still enough clients for these two.

On cars about four and a half meters long, you can hardly get as much space as in the Zafira. The sailors offered it to us for a longer test, and during the first few weeks there were always quite a few candidates to test. Be that as it may, a few years ago Zafira was relevant (introduced in 2012), but then Opel focused more on station wagons (Astra and Insignia) or crossovers (Mokka and Crossland).

Opel's approach to the Zafira is classic, and its second generation retains many of the useful features of the first Zafira, which introduced a novelty in this type of car, folding both rear bench seats into a flat luggage floor. Opel is also the only brand to offer something else - a two-wheel folding luggage compartment at the rear of the car. If we add to this a longitudinally movable center console with a really large storage space, it will prove especially useful as a useful family car in which we can really carry everything we need with us. In the second generation of the Zafira (with the addition of the name - Tourer - Opel still offers the old one) the second row of seats is well designed. Here you will find three independent parts of the bench that can be moved lengthwise.

The Germans have taken over a lot of the good stuff from the Renault Scénic, the pioneer of this type of car, the mid-size SUV, and, as is customary in Germany, in many ways they've done everything a little more thoroughly and fundamentally. But something remained Senik - look. The Opel Zafira could not compete for any design recognition. Yes, but they didn't have that intention either. The brand-style mask is the most recognizable part of the Zafira's bodywork, otherwise classic with two conventional side doors. In fact, they are wide enough, especially the last one, that access for potential third-row passengers is still quite acceptable - for more experienced or younger passengers who feel better in two third-row seats than their older "substitutes".

In the Zafira, a two-liter turbodiesel engine with a six-speed manual gearbox and up to 125 kilowatts (170 "horsepower") delivers consistently rapid AdBlue progress.

How Zafira will perform in our tests on the next several thousand kilometers, we will, of course, report in the next issues of the magazine "Auto".

Ours is also richly equipped, with the highest equipment package (innovation) and an extensive list of accessories (totaling € 8.465).
