Breakdown en route - guide

Breakdown on the road - it happened to everyone. But what to do when such a failure happens to another driver? How can I help him?

Breakdown - how to help another driver

You can often see a person standing helplessly by the road, next to a broken car ... What to do in this case? Of course, help - but on the condition that we are sure that this is not a trap set by thieves. If we decide to offer help, it is important that it is appropriate. It is best to tow the unlucky guy to the nearest garage.

How to help another driver - towing

Before towing, make sure that the broken vehicle can be safely towed. There are a few important points to consider when towing with a cable or towline:

– The ignition key must be inserted in the towed vehicle, otherwise the steering wheel will be locked.

– If the vehicle is equipped with power steering/brakes, it is difficult to steer/brake with the engine off. If we find that the vehicle can be safely towed, the vehicle can be towed with a cable or bar.

– The towing rope / rod must not be caught diagonally! They must be installed on the same side in both vehicles. Before towing, a warning triangle must be displayed on the left side of the towed vehicle. However, emergency lights should not be used - the turn signals do not work, so drivers should install a system of warning signs that they can use in case of an emergency.
