Section: SKF News - Timing Installation
Patronage: SCF. Applies to vehicles of the following brands: CHEVROLET, DAEWOO, OPEL, SAAB, VAUXHALL.

It is necessary to strictly observe the tightening torque of the fixing bolt (supplied with tensioner). Otherwise the tensioner rear plate, bolt and water pump may be damaged and in many cases the tensioner rear plate may break.
Excessive voltage in the system leads to damage to the water pump - this is the component most vulnerable to damage due to improper voltage. One of the first signs of excessive voltage is the noise of the water pump. You can hear it after the first few kilometers of work.
Installation Recommendations
1. Check water pump setting. The mark on the pump housing must be correctly aligned with the cylinder block.
2. After installing the tensioner VKM 15216, check the correct position of the pin fixing the tensioner in the cylinder block.
3. Initial setting: Align the tension indicator with the right edge of the back tensioner plate. Note: The tension indicator must not protrude beyond the right edge of the rear tensioner plate. Lock the tensioner in this position and turn the crankshaft 2 times.
4. Turn the tensioner clockwise so that the tension indicator is in the "NEW" position (mark on the back plate of the tensioner - see photo 2).
5. Tighten the tensioner mounting bolt to the correct torque (depending on the vehicle model (see below)).
6. Rotate the crankshaft 2 times.
7. Check tensioner setting. If the tips do not match, repeat the operation again.
Installation Recommendations:
