Difference between full and vented disc

The difference is quite simple, the easiest way is to recognize a full disk, a blank disk without any features. A ventilated drive looks like two hard drives stacked on top of each other with a gap between them to improve cooling (it can indeed dissipate through the center of the drive as well). As a rule, the front brakes are ventilated, and the rear brakes are filled for cost reasons (the rear brakes are less loaded, so there is no need to install ventilated discs).

Discs made from these materials are rare, a set of discs can cost from 5000 to 10 euros, and it’s immediately clear why ... The advantage of these two processes is again related to heating. These two technologies help maintain strong braking performance even with hot discs. Thus, the tolerance is much higher, which means that when the cast iron discs are hot and unusable (an obligatory break to allow it to cool), the carbon and ceramic brakes will continue to be a toy in the chain. In addition, cast iron versions can quickly deform in the event of thermal shock, and the metal becomes ductile. Heavy highway traffic can easily jeopardize your new steel rims.

Please note that ceramics is an exceptional material that is used in many areas, including aerospace. If you heat an inch-thick ceramic plate to a few hundred degrees on one side, you can still put your hand on the other side without getting burned. No wonder it serves as a heat shield for spacecraft.

In addition, ceramic and carbon brakes must be heated to be effective (especially for carbon), which is actually not the case on the cast iron / steel side. And then there are recordings in which two materials are mixed.
