Retribution and motorcycle power

Strength is a dream come true for many bikers, pushing the forbidden door effortlessly to unleash their imaginations - and their purse - to get the most out of their motorcycle. Aside from 100 horsepower, motorcycles can easily tickle 150 horsepower without too many modifications and exceed 200 horsepower for the most advanced formulations. Hold on ...

A little preliminary emphasis is needed: changing the characteristics of the vehicle is completely prohibited.

The Mining Department issues a homologation certificate and any modification makes you illegal (Article R 322-8 of the Road Traffic Code, which requires you to announce any changes). In fact, if the texts followed the letter, the very fact that the tire type had changed from what was worn at the time of approval would render the bike inappropriate! Tuning, if it exceeds the color of the paint and decals, replacing the original parts, falls into the same category. There is now a certain tolerance in France, especially compared to some European countries (like Germany) that do tuning, tire changes are allowed without any problems. The only items commonly hunted for are exhaust fumes and license plates, which are too small.

It is forbidden?! So what?

The simple fact that your 34bhp motorcycle is completely unbridled. for bikers under the age of 21 may result in a 5th class ticket, i.e. 1500 euros (Articles R 221-1 and R 221-6 of the Highway Code).

And above all, if you have any accidents, the insurance will no longer cover you, even if it is not your fault! Indeed, the insurer then considers that the declaration when signing up for the contract was not sincere because you did not state the change. Then he can unilaterally terminate the contract and keep the paid premiums.

Recent biker anecdote: a car denies him priority right in the city at low speed ... an accident and a motorcycle is good for breaking ... Unfortunately, she was rampant! Thus, he not only had to say goodbye to his motorcycle and pay out of his own pocket for the entire repair of the damaged car (no, you are not dreaming), but also soon go to court in the accused's box. In short, if you curb your motorcycle, it will be reserved for the track and you will have to drive it on a trailer.

This is not a hypocritical warning (there are only unscrupulous people who can think that way), but a really serious warning: I am against sagging.

This article is not a guide to unlocking, but just some explanations of the various methods that can be applied in the case of reserved motorcycle use and under no circumstances on the road (prohibited and dangerous, see above).

What are motorcycles?

Tightened motorcycles are hypersport, regardless of their offset. As a result, the vast majority of owners of this type of motorcycle ask the dealer to curb them at one time or another. In addition to being prohibited, it is especially dangerous. (Note: Dealers have recently been convicted of rampant motorcycles). The interviewed Grand Prix drivers, who often have hypersport “in town”, are the first to admit that they do not use half of the car's capabilities on the roads open to traffic ... which they have limited themselves. If they fail to do this, then no biker can also harness the potential of a low-key motorcycle ... so wild I don't even talk about it. And if your GSX-R 600 isn't enough for you, buy a 750 or 1000!

Aside from the hypersport, there are several models that benefit from small impulses like the Suzuki Bandit. The latter is probably the royal motorcycle among motorcycles that have undergone mechanical modifications. The reason is simple: this is a motorcycle that has a puncture-resistant engine block and can withstand many mechanical modifications. Then the base price of the motorcycle is low compared to others. Therefore, for little money it is possible to make it an exceptional motorcycle mechanically, surpassing the less powerful original models. But contrary to popular belief, the bandit is not really limited to mechanical, regardless of its movement (600 or 1200).

The Numbers: What's the Power for a Rampant Motorcycle?

Some will dream ... The unbridled Kawasaki ZX12R may point to 198 horsepower on the power bench ... Suzuki Hayabusa is over 300 km / h in origin (and therefore restrained) and the unbridled cheerfully crossing 210 km / h in ... 2nd! ... Interesting What is the purpose of the gearbox 😉 And the Bandit 1200? It was fun for some compilers to prepare it for pulling nearly 200 horses ... at the cost of a major cycle and mechanical redesign ...

Keep in mind that part of the cycle tends to follow improvements made less easily than the mechanical part ... Just mention the Hornet 900 currently in stock, which for some testers does not track engine horsepower at cycle level ... while it is originally approved and limited!

Base

Traffic fumes

The simplest and cheapest modification is to replace the exhaust gases and the air filter. On the Bandit 600, you can get between 5 and 8 horsepower by taking a Nikko or Yoshimura trigger. On the Bandit 1200, replacing the exhaust can produce between 8 and 15 horsepower, Akrapovich gives excellent results. Attention! Exhaust changes are most often accompanied by carburetting adjustments to take advantage of the extra horses.

Attention! In the case of hypersport, changing the exhaust gases can result in a loss of performance. Genuine exhaust fumes are especially well researched for these models, and if there is a clamp, it is done on other mechanical parts.

In a simple series of modifications, you can always change the output gear of the box. For a gear with one smaller tooth: nervousness may be there. This does not affect power, but only the final gear: more nervousness at the bottom for a lower top speed.

Dynojet kits - stage 1, 2 or 3 - are some of the latest simple improvements. Opinions are divided here. The gain is real, but only with good adjustments, especially at the carburation level. And adjustments should be made more frequently and at least every 3000 kilometers. In short, the bike gets sharper.

Prepared by

Many motorcycles get rid of themselves easily with a few simple modifications: remove the gearboxes inserted into the CBR 1100 XX intake pipes and the beast regains its 164 horsepower. For the Yamaha R1 and R6, the clamp boils down to plastic stops located in the carburetors, which are enough to remove: (too) simple and very effective.

evolved

The most common changes made by Bandit are cam shafts using original Bandit models: GSX-R. This translates for the Bandit 600 using the GSX-R 750 camshafts 89 and for the Bandit 1200 using the GSX-R 1100 vintage 89 camshafts. The operation takes 2,5 hours labor plus parts price: € 390 (2590 francs). The bandits then receive ten and twenty horses, respectively, which are added to the horses won by the change of descent. Attention! The power boost is achieved here at the expense of torque and low RPM consumption, as it rises more fun a good liter more! A quick side note: I'm saying that in this case, the profits add up. Indeed, when preparing the engine, the successes achieved by this or that modification complement each other ... and therefore, if they are poorly done, they can be canceled! Example? Install camshafts with a lot of FRG without increasing the compression ratio, because in this case the geometric volume ratio is reduced.

Then, for the Bandit 1200, the 38 inlet 50 air filter housings can be replaced by taking the 1100 GSX-R 92 housings. Carbohydrates can also be changed by moving the needles with the appropriate sprinklers. After all, after all these modifications: exhaust, camshafts, body, carburetors, the Bandit 1200 can already display 127 horsepower on the power bench (instead of the original 100 horsepower).

ELECTRONIC

Many motorcycles, especially those that benefit from injections, get rid of the electronic fairy. The Bandit 1200 - like the Inazuma - for example, is protected on the second and third with small pink threads to relieve traction. This wire plays on the front ignition and reduces the engine turning ability. Detach the pink thread in question and the clip will disappear. In practice, after testing, you really need to know this in order to implement this, and so there is no point in worrying about it to protect the mechanics. Not to mention, this pink thread, disconnected from the mains, goes to ground. Therefore, it is quite advisable to put the G-package, a small electronic box in this place (about 130 euros, or 900 francs), which retains the original electrical circuit. For Hayabusa, clamping is done on the inlet pipes with rings tied to a wire with an electronic box; 175 original horses can be found. For GSX-R 1000, just uncheck the wires! At the Aprilia Falco level, it is also enough to change the injection preset, shining with some wires in the electronic box.

NOS kit: chemical reaction

A small bottle makes you dream ... the nitroglycerin in the beast should let you fly away ... Enough! NOS, also known as nitrogen, is nitrogen, also called nitrous oxide. This chemical element decomposes into nitrogen and oxygen under the influence of heat and compression. Nitrogen? Oxygen? Similar to air components (less carbon monoxide). And that's all. In fact, it is a chemical reaction to energy to enrich an air-gasoline mixture. At the same time, we inject a little NOS (which decomposes into oxygen) and a little more gasoline, and we have a richer, more explosive mixture for the mill. This system has significant advantages: it is easily adaptable to any motorcycle, requires several adjustments and does not require engine modifications, except for the adoption of new pre-calibrated sprinklers, all for less than 1500 euros. I see it dreaming again ... But the system works best for about ten seconds in a row (longer and the engine doesn't survive). The NOS bottle, on the other hand, contains 2 to 3 minutes of power and is therefore regularly changed at a low price of 25 euros. Thus, this system is limited to overflow or "run" use.

MrTurbo set

Sounds like a farce, and yet ... the MrTurbo kit is available online and can boost a bandit's performance to 160-250 horsepower for the modest $ 3795. Here's a real turbo!

Race

Mechanical modifications can still be pushed further: piston replacement, cylinder head modification, crankshaft lightening, ignition modification, NOS kit ... the worst case to lengthen it (to avoid riding every run), replacing the steering wheel with bracelets to lighten the front end, brake calipers ... Then a 1200 thug can lick 200 horses with a crankshaft ... These conversions are expensive, of course, from a financial point of view (count 10 000 euros), but above all mechanical: they provide dismantling every 2500 kilometers, a significant amount of revision and an oversized consumption of about twenty liters.

Conclusion

If you are a mechanic and can afford to restrict the use of your motorcycle on the track, the Suzuki Bandit 1200 is a great foundation to prepare.

If you need more energy while driving on the road, change motorcycles... There will always be someone who has the power they want without risking life-long pay for the accident because insurance companies will turn against you in case they can still turn against you 🙁

And if you want to read the legislative aspect of decay, this is also online ...

If you really want to scare yourself, but safely, and above all, learn to master your motorcycle or exceptional motorcycle, there is especially riding courses (with hypersport rental, all brands) that will really make you pump up your adrenaline and get addicted to the track 🙂
